Pele is very much overrated and overhyped, on the other part, Maradonna was golden.

Both players had legendary skill on the field, but Pele represents everything good about football and is a true Gentleman, whearas Madonna had the greatest cheek football has ever known!!
Gary Lineker recently visited Maradonna and they had a giggle about the "Hand of God" incident, though i could tell Gary was still a bit peeved about it - though i blamed the Ref!!

Maradona, the man who flies.
When Pelé played, the soccer was slowest. Pelé was good, but...

I've seen neither of them playing, and documentaries aren't good enough. Guess I'll have to settle with Zidane, Baggio, Matthaus, Hagi, Stoichkov, Bergkamp, Figo...

It's completely obvious that all the guys from England voted/will vote for Pele because of reasons that we already know, and that's why Pele is winning the poll.
But, c'mon, let's face it: Maradona was, is and will be THE BEST football player ever.

How about Franz Beckenbauer? I am very serious; I have seen a special video made for his 50th birthday, and there were some really amazing scenes in it. The one I liked best was when he had the ball and was looking for someone he could pass it to when he was attacked by a player of the opponent's team. He made one simple movement, and the attacker ran past him without really noticing what had happened or where the ball had gone; then he made one of his wide passes. I never saw anything so cool again, not from Pele or Maradona or anyone else.

- As a person
- As an example for young generations
- As the best player ever
Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pele is the king.
Sorry but IMO Maradona is one of the worst things that could have ever happened to football, and I seen both play.
Other greats:
- Platini
- Boniek
- Beckembauer
- Cruyff
- Van Basten

Yes, that game was embarrasing, Maradona got a a twin brother.
But really, Maradona had a unique talent, it's a shame that with all the money, chances, help offered he went over and over and over.
Plus he is a jerk also, so that doesn't help him.

A good question would be how many of you have seen Pele playing? Oh, it's so easy to rush in and vote for Maradona because most of us saw him.... but take the oportunity to watch some tapes, to see the guy playing, then analyze statistics, analyze playing-abilities, heading, speed, dexterity with both legs, and a lot of other factors, and the answer is definite: Pele pwns Diego Armando, as you say.
