Marillion's "You're Gone" from Marbles. Everything from the lush keyboards, atmospheric guitar work, to H's heartwrenching lyrics and vocals makes it one of my favorite Marillion tunes. I never tire of this one.

My top prog singles would be:
Northern Lights - Renaissance: The vocal melody is unforgettable, and beautiful.
Turn it on Again - Genesis: I love the riff played by the paino and guitar, and the fact that it combines some prog trademarks with an accessable RnB feel.
Kayleigh - Marillion: Lyrically a great song, with a superb perfomance from Steve Rothery. This put prog near the top of the chrts where it belonged.
Joybringer - Manfred Manns Earth Band: A joyfull take on Holsts Jupiter.

The problem with setting up a poll like this is that you have to make choices, you can't please everybody. In fact I intended only to include my own favorite progrock singles but I have chosen for a broader set up. Genesis was the hardest choice, also because Follow You, Follow Me is in the list .. On one hand I regret excluding I Know What I Like but on the other hand I am glad that I have included Cat Food by King Crimson because of the funny reactions ! And it's really fun to read all reactions because it's so subjective, every proghead has its own taste, memories or motivation ..

Oh, Northern Lights - Renaissance. A beautiful song.
Surely you italians must have had some prog hit singles?
Banco: Non me Rompete,
Le Orme: Il Proformo delle Viole, Regina al Troubadour,
De DE Lind - Mille Anni (fantastic single)
Franco Battiato - Energia,
PFM - La Carrozza di Hans, E Festa,
Were any of these songs big hits?

'I Know What I Like' and 'Catfood' for me
Wasn't 'Stick It Out' by Rush a single too... Probably didn't make a hit though if it was.

I'd personally add "MAMA" by the dwarf-fronted Genesis... I love that songs for its slightly sinister atmosphere and for the wicked sounds that Phil emits...

I agree. Mama was the first song that ever made me sit up and pay attention to Genesis. I quite like the Genesis album too. Better than ABACAB, Invisible Touch and We Cant Dance IMO.

Hello Bern.
When I am home from my work, I will have a look at Hocus Pocus as a Focus single !
Where are the Dutchmen to support Earth & Fire and Ekseption ?
And I am surprised about the current #1, Roxy Music with Love Is The Drug !

That's the kind of surprises you get when you allow multiple votes.

Hocus Pocus by Focus reached two times the Dutch charts:
1971: #10 and 9 weeks
1973: # 9 and 7 weeks
Unfortunately Spirit Of The Radio by Rush had no ranking in Holland.

Child in Time - one of the GREAT rock songs of all time.
I love the song Kayleigh of Marillion too. But I simply HATE the single the record company brought out in the Netherlands. It cuts out the guitar solo of Rothery at about 2 minutes in the song. That destroys an otherwise perfect Marillion song!
