I was never a fan of Ron Howard and this dates back to his cheesy character of Ritchie Cunningham in Happy Days.
I always found his movies cheesy (especially Cocoon and Splash)
But this was to be expected, the worse the movie was, the more noise it needed
A good movie gets noted right away by word of mouth.
I hope this sore excuse of a movie actually loses a fortune (not likely , though ) |
I believe Fonzy to have been a Knights Templar (possibly high-ranking due to his almost magical manipulation of soda machines). Joanie & Ralph Malph are another matter, clearly planted by anti-Zionists to cause unrest on the show...This also explains Ron Howard's later fascination with the Da Vinci theory/conspiracy which led up to this movie. Anyone know who actually financed this masterpiece?
Nothing wrong with Splash if taken at face value. Mermaids pop up in New York harbor every day (although not usually alive)...Cocoon was a bit far-fetched though. Come on, who could believe that Wilford Brimley & Hume Cronyn could do convincing cannonballs into that pool? Definitely the work of stunt doubles... |
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That has got to be the most brilliant analysis of a Sitcom
For yourquestion to financing, I think Opus Dei had a good deal of interest in such a moralistic show

I acually plan to see the movie at some point (maybe I'll wait till it goes to rental). Ron Howard deserves to make a few more bucks...I was just looking up his filmography (love that word!) for any patterns to substantiate the opinions of some that he's an anti Sion-ist at heart, just waiting for that opportunity to spill these secrets. Check this out:
Dr Seuss (the plot is tough to follow...what's with all the rhyming?)
A Beautiful Mind (not really that beautiful, more like CRAZZZZYYYY.....)
Grand Theft Auto (need I say more?)
Night Shift (one of my faves...Hey kid, you like music...?)
Gung Ho (Howard's answer to border security)
Willow (never saw it...is this about a tree?)
Backdraft (this movie was hot....no really. Went on the backdraft "ride" at Universal once, there's nothing like first-hand experience of a movie's plot...My eyebrows just recently finished growing back...)
Hmmm...OK, so no obvious patterns here. In fact, this guy's all over the map! Houston, we have a problem...

I saw Night Shift the other day, wow, the '80s fashion!
Willow has lots of dwarves in it, you must have seen it? I haven't, but I know of it.

It doesnt supprise me that this is getting panned by the critics, most films with this level of hype tend to (Matrix 2 & 3 anyone)

Night Shift:
"Memo to self: "Call Starkist"
"I'm an idea man, Chuck..."
"This is Chuck to remind Bill to SHUT UP"
"Barney Rubble...What an actor"
"Yeah...a limo service for dead people..."
"Love Brokers!"
"Pay up sucker"

Indeed! But he'll always be The Fonz!
That is quite a coincidence that Ron Howard directed this film and it starred his buddy from Happy Days, who was most likely short of work!

I believe "LOL" to be a secret code designed to confuse the masses (and it's working, at least on me)...I hear there's a small chapel in Battle Creek, Our Lady of Cereal Remorse, that has the "LOL" inlaid into it's floor, arranged in a pentangle pattern, with the "sharp" end pointing to a stained glass replica of St. Expedite (the saint of rapid solutions & anti-procrastination - I'm told the chapel was built in 45 minutes). Now, could it just be coincidence that the # of letters in the Chapel's name (22) is the exact product of prime numbers (3 times 7) plus 1? As we all know, prime numbers have powerful & special, well, "powers"...
There's also some "proof" to suggest that this Chapel had been visited by descendants of past members of The Conglomerate Of Cobblers, which may have been an ancient offshoot of The Shoemakers (the Secret Society credited with shoe-ing all of Europe in the 1200's until the King of Norway persecuted them to extinction, he didn't care for their ideas on dress boots. No relation to the horseracing jockey). Yes, they had a secret handshake as all self-respecting secret societies do, and some think that the ubiquitous "Baby On Board" & "Soccer Mom" car stickers are modern-day secret symbols of recognition among fellow "Shoe Gnostics"...
So I'm thinking about pursuing these concrete clues to their logical conclusion (ie, a book, and possibly a movie, is in the works). The journey of discovery may lead me to hidden tales of sex, lies, money & faith, plus an ultimate indictment of Nike (did you know that their current CEO's mother's brother's great-great-great grandniece once wore a pair of slippers made by one of The Shoemakers?)...The book's working title is: "The Cobblers' Conundrum"...Did I mention that I hate Nike? And shoelaces?

Wrong, science philosophy has debunked that idea long ago. (all the way back to Hume, go figure.)

I'm loving how the Church is squirming on this one.
Yet they completely fail to see the comparison to when they basically told Jews to "lighten up" about Passion of Christ.

Actually, Kuhn, Popper, Hume, Kant, Mach and other philosophers who took away the ground of truth for science were not quite well known for their religiousness

To be honest, science is often just as implausible as religion. The majority of atheists do not actually understand the science behind the Big Bang theory, they just accept it because it is told to them by scientists, who supposedly "know what they're talking about". This, combined with the average atheist's willingness to dismiss any expression of religious thought without giving it serious consideration means that atheism and religion are the same, or at least very similar - both are essentially founded in ignorance and blind faith in the wisdom of their "spokesmen", "spokesmen" being either priests or scientists. I'm sure there are many people on these forums who understand all the science behind the Big Bang, just as there will be theists who understand all the arguments for the existence of God. However, nonetheless, most people believe in whatever it is they always believed in, and take just about everything about that belief on faith.

Yesterday I started to read this book because I have to travel at least one hour to my work and I had heard lots of positive stories. Well, after 50 pages I can say that it reads like a good historical detective and it contains some interesting views on the role of the church in the past like underpressing women and the enormous power of the Vatican.
By the way I am not an atheist but I don't believe in a god or gods, I have the idea that, like in nature, it's a tough world were we have to take our own responsibility. If somebody wants to pray, to me it's OK but it my opinion it won't help the huge poverty and injustice in Latin-America, Africa, Asia and an increasing amount of countries...
Today I will turn another page of this captivating book, I hope it will remain so.

“I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them!” Charles Darwin
