There's a phrase I've come across that I think sums up how I feel about my country "It may be a sh!t hole, but its our sh!t hole".

I'm American and proud of it. We have our problems but there's still no place I'd rather call home.

I am proud beyond reason, even though sometimes I feel my country doesn't deserve me.

Well - the question is "Do you feel ANY national pride?" In that case the question is of course Yes.
Of course I'm proud of the way this country fought for it's independence. Of course I'm also proud of our society - for example our social care and education are better than in most countries. I feel privileged to live here.
On the other hand I don't want to look down on other countries and cultures and I'm not very proud of the fact that over 50% of us Finns vote Right wing.
EDIT: Also the Evangelic-Lutheran Church has way too much power here. Over 80% of the population are E-L Christians and for example every company has to pay tax to the church, doesn't matter if they're members of the church or not. Evangelic-Lutherans also have exclusive right to religious programs in TV and Radio, and in schools etc.

I lived in Finland for almost six years, but did not realise that the E-L Church had so much power. You should try living here in Italy, where the Catholic Church tries to stick its nose in every matter and influence the decisions of our governments. As to 50% of the people voting right-wing, I think we're in the same boat... Perhaps you heard what happened a month ago when we had our latest general elections.
BTW, I have no particular national pride, though there are some aspects of Italy that I like - namely, the artistic and natural beauty of most of my country, and its great food. On the other hand, there are aspects of the national character (if there is any such thing...) which I positively detest, especially the tendency to dishonesty many seem to have. I hope not to offend any fellow Italians here - I don't want to make any generalisations, but I see too many people taking shortcuts instead of working hard to get things.

True, we've been at war with everywhere at one time or another, including ourselves in the English Civil War, and let's not forget Jenkin's Ear.
Apparently in a recent poll other European countries voted us the most yobbish nation on the continent. All I can say to that is
Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!
