Some suggestions for loud music when your with other people outdoors:
Campfire/drinking or whatever you choose to do in the forest or a park:
Comus, Incredible String Band, Spirogyra, Amon Düül II, Celeste, early
Gong....
In general Folk, Psychedelic, and lots of italian Prog is perfect (That is if you have friends also into it, of course).
On a boat or at the seaside: Tangerine Dream, Cluster, Soft Machine
(Third), National Health, Hatfield and the North...Folk stuff works
here as well.

I prefer no music when out in the forest or whatever. Music would ruin it.

To me their's nothing like a moderate temperature Spring morning while listening to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway"
Try it while driving or walking.

My avatar is the vocalist of glam rock/brit pop band Suede (aka the London Suede in USA). They were once good before the guitarist left the band. Albums to hear: self titled debut and 'Dog Man Star.'

You would think Brian Eno's On Land would be perfect, but I've never tried it myself.

Mountains for me. I sit there for hours....
I listen to lots of stuff there, but the best for this setting are: - Early Pink Floyd
- Klaus Schulze
- Post rock
When I'm riding my bike tho get there(15 mile ride) Metal or other loud/fast paced music is the best. - Disco Volante
- Lateralus
- Megadeth
- Early Metallica
- Maiden

There's little wilderness here, but when I walk around campus and such,
I always find it cool to listen to GY!BE and Do Make Say Think for some
reason.

Camel is good for walking in the woods. Early Floyd for relaxing. Ozric Tentacles for fast paced bike riding, and Yes for slow riding.
I don't want to seem like I'm picky, anything I like is good in nature.

IMO, there's nothing better than walking outside and in the wilderness while listening to prog with headphones. Just sitting in the forest or on seaside while listening to prog is extremely cool. So which music do you like to listen to when you're in the wilderness?
