Pearl Jam is a fairly odd choice to pick, with those 2 other bands.

Sorry, these bands were part of the B-team for me... it happens when the A-team is out and you only have the bench to play with!

BYRDS, Grateful Dead, Kansas, Crosby-Stills-Nash, Poco, Eagles, America, The Beach Boys, Steppenwolf, Creedence, Buffalo Springfield, Lovin' Spoonful, Allmann Brothers, Outlaws, GFR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. (not counting Canadian bands like Guess Who or The Band).

Yep, agreed! They get my vote over VH for this reason. Albums like 'Draw the Line' 'Rock in a Hard Place' and Toys in the Attic' were excellent. They were the American Led Zep IMO..
Van Halen were also a great band. Roth was the ultimate showman, had a great voice for blues, and EVH was an inspired and unique sounding guitarist. They lost all their appeal for me when Hager joined them - although he did have agreat voice.
Pearl Jam are to recent to be included in the 'trinity' IMO, but have made some brilliant music. 'Ten' and 'Vitology' are great albums.

Out of those 3, Pearl Jam kick the most ass. I saw them live Saturday, they put on a f**king amazing show.
