Hmmmm Eloy aren't Krautrock at all!
My top ten would be something like this, in no specific order of course with only one album per artist: Cluster-Cluster II NEU!-NEU!75 Popol Vuh-In Den Garten Pharaos Can-Tago Mago Faust-So Far Dieter Moebius and Conny Plank-Rastakraut Pasta Tangerine Dream-Zeit Klaus Schulze-X (don't know if it's really Krautrock, but still AMAZING nonetheless) Amon Duul II-Phallus Dei (hard to choose just one of their albums) Embryo-We Keep On (hard to choose just one from them) Tough calls on some artists, but I think it's a pretty good list. |

I have only a few Krautrock cds so not enough but Can from Monster Movie to Landed is good in particular tago mago, ege bamyasi, and future days. Also Neu! 75 is a masterpiece and Neu! is also quite good |

Wilkommen Cheesecakemouse...!
That's a great start to an unforgettable journey...! However, remember the Golden rules to Krautrock: ...don't stray too far from '69 through '74 ...stay with the big names first ...be very wary of the 'this is the German Floyd /(insert English band here)' recommendations ...apart from Faust don't touch anything from the '80s ...be very careful with that eBay 200 dollar bid for an Ohr original LP having not heard it first ...and always remember that your real friends aren't interested in a 1st pressing "Pilz" mushroom logo spinning on your turntable (or a fried egg) Edited by みこすりはん |

Yeah...! "X" is fantastic...! Was it Klaus on the kit or the geezer from Wallenstein...? All I remember was side 1 of the vinyl was a side-long 25 minute bliss-fest. Great to see the early Ash Ra Tempel pictures in the gatefold-booklet as well. Stunning sleeve. Eloy: Intelligent, indulgent, stoned, early '70s, Rodney Matthews' artwork, and German. Musically, not my cup of tea but let's have 'em in this thread. |

NetsNJFan...!
I'm gonna have to sue you... ...not because you 'and I quote "hate Damo's voice" ' ...not because you "gave 12" ...not because you prefer one slightly-off pickled cabbage to another But because you rate "Wolf City" better than "Carnival In Babylon" Have your day in court ! |

My favourite electronic music from the late '70s is all from France...
...Archaia ...Heldon/Pinhas ...Hellebore ...Arachnoid ...but I know it's not what you have in mind. In England these guys are awesome...! Give 'em a call...! http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ultimathule/ Two brothers Alan and Steve...any subject...doesn't matter...these guys know everything. Are you interested in the classical electronic works of the '50s and '60s ? Much better stuff there than in the '80s I fancy...! |
