Hah, I like that quote a lot.
"Art is not imitation, nor is it something manufactured according to the wishes of instinct or good taste. It is a process of expression."

Expand please :)

At the moment, i'm thinking of just designing myself a Porcupine Tree t-shirt until i can some up with something fitting. It is a bad idea to put down other genres, or be all uppity. It'll require a fair amount of thought.

I was thinking of just having the opening paragraph of the Prog Rock definition on this site printed on the t-shirt. That automatically says what prog is: long and complicated. Haha.

Thanks for the input guys :)

              PROGRESSIVE ROCK

"Masturbation for the mind"
or
go with a quotem, like Frank Zappa "Without deviation from the norm, progression is impossible"
I think he has a couple other good quotes.

"The rock and roll business is pretty absurd, but the world of serious music is much worse." - Zappa

One member here has a sig that says 'MUSIC FOR THE MIND' which I have always liked.

In fact, just looking at the sigs in this thread would give you a couple of great starts;

stonebeard: I take my prog with a side of cheese, thank you.

Empathy: Pure Brilliance

Kryten : "'Pub'? Ah yes, A meeting place where humans attempt to achieve advanced states of mental incompetence by the repeated consumption of fermented vegetable drinks."

I like the KC one, but I can only really get it done with text, and no pictures sorry. My mates not THAT pro.

I was thinking of making a progarchives shirt, with MIND MUSIC in some groovy font from the 60's/70's, and www.progarchives.com underneath it in square letters. OR something.

I ended up giving up thinking about it, and made a PT design. I am never kerning, airbrushing and erasering every letter for the first verse of Sky Moves phase one again haha.

Thoughts?

edit: That's a very very scaled down version. I'm thinking of cleaning the letters in the header up a little as well. In case anyones interested, I started with Courier New as the font :)

Hehe, I'm glad my idea kind of has inspired people, that's cool.

It's such a scary face, that people will more likely be scared off though!
