The Rolling Stones played in Rio last night for an audience of over a million people. They are indeed live and kickinī, but I agree they are very overratedWink

Kurt Cobain.  Nirvana suck.  Hendrix is extremely overrated too, but his music is much better than Nirvana.

Bolan and his T.Rex thing

I have enough respect for his early folk period (mostly the Steven Took- partnership albums) than for his over-rated and over-emphasized press exposure glam rock

Anyone who says Hendrix is overrated does not understand his importance in the development of rock music. Playing electric guitar is more than just running the fingers up and down the neck of the gutar. Hendrix was the first really "electric" guitar player; his predecessors had more or less played their electric guitars like acoustic ones.

The only person from the list whom I think is really over-rated is Kurt Cobain, not only was he limited in his talent but his "reputation" was only really cemented when he joined "the stupid club".

Kurt Cobain. He certainly had a talent for writing songs, and no doubt he was a voice of a generation, but people who get legendary because they destroy themselves... I have a problem with that.

The same goes for Jim Morrison by the way. Maybe even more so than with Kurt Cobain. The Doors were very talented, and the voice of a generation, but Jim Morrison is my least favourite Door. I can't stand it when people destroy themselves...

Kurt Cobain. About dead men we'd rather say something good or  nothing. I'd rather say nothing.

I guess because they're not dead (although in Keith Richards case that's debatable).

Hi BaldfriedeSmile

I understand your statement about Hendrix and he did revolutionize guitar playing. I just get tired of people always saying he was the best and will always be the best.

Jim Morrison for me - as much as I like the Doors, his lyrics were mostly trite and he wasn't anything that special as a singer either.

Kurt Cobain has been ridiculously over praised since his death, but Nirvana's albums still pack a real punch.

id have to say cobain out of hte list but i dont think he is that overratted.  I think the Rolling Stones are the most overratted band on the planet.  I still like them but i just cant stand how over hyped they are.
