I think Annie Haslam pronounces it correctly. It's just that she sings sheh-hehr-a-zaaaaaaaaaaaaahd

By the way, I love Rimsky Korsakov's interpretation as well. Good one, Opera Guy.

ask an Arab; he will give you the correct pronunciation with a lot of guttural consonants. try the same for yourself, and you will wind up with a severe laryngitis

True. The Arab speaking people pronounce "Sahara" also completely different than we do. (Well, "we"? Maybe there are some Arab speaking prog fans on PA as well).
