I like Thick as a Brick more by a lot, but thats not to say Dark side of the Moon is bad, it is very good but no where near as good and Thick as a Brick.

For me JT have only 2 great works: "Aqualung" & "Thick as a Brick". But they are very inferior to any 70's album by PINK FLOYD...

2 great works? Heavy horses (full session) , Dotcom and A are better than Aqualung. So are about 6 other albums sessions. But the Aqualung full session is one of the best. Pink floyd aren't capable of playing something like Thick as a brick, so floyd are way off . They even had to hire a drummer to play comfortably numb for the wall album, because Mason couldn't keep up lol. Pink floyd are not a top 5 prog band. Tull are twice as good as most of you think

I would definitely go for Thick as A Brick. For some reason, I was never able to really get into Dark Side of the Moon (no matter how many times I've listened to it).

No contest. I find TAAB a very average album (and yes, I own it, and
yes, I have listened to it at least 20 times or so - I just don;t
particularly like it). DSOTM, whilst not the best of PF, is still a five star masterpiece for me.

Why has everyone have to say so and so album is overrated. If it is expected by a large crowd of Progressive Rock fans as a classic, it is a classic!
I'd chose Dark Side of the Moon, because I like Pink Floyd better as a band, but Thick as a Brick is a brilliant release and it showcases Tull at its finest!

I agree with the sentiment but coming from you flossy that is a load of sanctimonious crap.
All you ever say is this or that(throw in the name of any album or artist/musician)is overrated.

^^ learning to give have respect for and give credence to the musical passions of others, is something quite a few of us have had to learn on PA.
The necessity of being able to do so will ensure that PA is a happier place to visit....
Both of the above albums are classics, whether they are to their taste or not, and anyone who tries to trash their reputation for the sake of cheap point scoring is guilty of mindlessly trampling over the feelings of many others...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

they are both excellent excellent excellent albums, better than 99.95% of other prog even, but I'd spring for TAAB

I don't see the excitement of dark side. Very sleepy stuff. I guess if you don't understand the brilliance of taab then you shouldn't be voting in here . Hence Dark side really shouldn't have any votes lol

How is there any comparison? Look at the musicianship, the arrangement, the sophistication of each. Thick as a Brick towers over Floyd. I've never heard Nick Mason do anything even remotely close to the work Barrie Barlow did on any Tull album. Plus Ian runs circles around Waters as a frontman. A monkey could play bass as well as Waters, seriously! A slightly more interesting match-up would be Thick as a Brick vs. Animals. I'd have to sit and think about that one...for about 1 second.

Thick as a Brick by a mile.
Dark Side of the Moon... great in the historical context. Stack it
against other prog albums.... simply and honestly not as interesting..
IMO of course.

^ I couldn't agree more.
I have trouble listening to DSOTM because it is frequently boring.
