OMG.....I remember me and my friends thinking that was what that lyric said back when we were growing up in the 70's.

Listen to the song "Christmas" from Tommy by the Who. Me and my friend always argue whether the kids in the background are saying "Ha Ha Ha" or "Gobble Gobble Gobble." It's tough to tell.

Isn't this in Zappa's cover of "Purple Haze"?

Non prog but...

The Rolling Stones song "Start Me Up"

Real lyrics: My eyes dilate.

What I thought I heard: My ass dilates

There was a song on the radio a few years ago, never found out the real name of the song but it sounded like the chorus was : "I'm a giant appleseed/ I'm a giant appleseed/ I'm a giant appleseed"

More in the prog area...

The background vocals in Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers". I've heard several people give their interpretations of what they're singing. My favourite "She's so f---ing old". In fact, a friend thought that was the name of the song.

Then there's the lyrics in "Roundabout". Imagine my surprise when I found out those were the real lyrics.

"they locked up a man who wanted to rule the world.
the fools
they locked up the wrong man."
- Leonard Cohen

I used to think that was the lyric too when I first heard the album years ago, and before I read the lyrics.

Eric Clapton's "Cocaine"

heard as---"she don't like, she don't like, she don't like....cocaine"

actually---"she don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie....cocaine"

Also...one I couldn't figure out in Jethro Tull's "The Whistler"
Does he say I've got a pipe and a drum to play or I've got a pipe and I've come to play ?

For years a friend of mine was completely sure that on Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like a Lady", they sing "Dooo-lo-la-la-le-leee". Hahaha, it was hilarious when we found out he actually thought that was the lyrics.
