All pretty safe and mainstream. What were the top 5 jazz fusion albums, Tony?

What did you expect, Dick? This isn't fusion archives, much as you may prefer it.

^ more importantly: The TMV album is not exactly safe or mainstream.

Only in this crowd would TMV ever seem "mainstream"

Madonna, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Robbie Williams, The Mars Volta
which of these artists is the least mainstream one?

I think that one factor that may have influenced the list is that it takes time to wade through albums and I think by now I have heard only around 10 new prog albums for 2005 ... for eg, I'll only get to hear the Kate Bush a little later because it's not out yet in Malaysia ...
I know that this year, I fell in love with IQ's Dark Matter which was released in 2004 ... so I wouldn't have voted for it in a 2004 list even though I now think it's one of the best albums of the decade

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

I'm sad, yet not surprised to see that neither Pallas's The Dreams of Men nor Pendragon's Believe are on the list.
If it were a top 10 list, one or both should have been there.
It appears that the collabs don't find neo-prog yummy...

Yeah, then Side One can get into the limelight a bit... or at least I hope it does.

I was very disappointed with Pepper's Ghost Cyggie. It just lacks that indescribable "something". Its on my re-listen list for 2006 though.
As for Pallas' Dreams Of Men,well it starts out a killer and you think that it is going to be a classic album. Then it just flatlines...............

Hmmm...
I haven't heard the new Arena yet, but the Pallas was very good IMO, and doesn't flatline as you put it Tony. Just my opinion.

Too bad Glass Hammer's The Inconsolable Secret didn't make the cut. It's
definitely one of 2005's most amibitious and best sounding progressive
works.

Bah. I tried to rig things by voting for the Residents as my no 1 choice but it just wasn't going to happen, was it?
Anyway, good to see 3 of my choices there at least.

I haven't heard Animal Lover yet ... but I'm pretty sure that even if the both of us would have put it on the no. 1 spot (mine was Suspended Animation now), we still couldn't have made it happen...
