Another point in SRs favor is the great drumming by Phil. Surely it was a sad day when he moved away form prog

How wonderful to be so profound

Supper's Ready. Boring?

I don't even know how to respond to that.

I agree with him if you compers the 2 songs Supper is boring, it yust doesnt come close to "Close to the edge" sorry but thats the truth...  And thats why Close to the edge wins becaus it have so much amazing playing and is so tight its mind blowing while Supper is yust long out stretched and completly boring at times. Ofcourse it hase its moments but nothing that comes close to the edge...

Supper's Ready bores me...

CTTE makes me orgasm

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

I do agree. I find it very funny how, when Peter Gabriel and Phill Collins were togethr, they created amazign Prog, but when the split up, they both mad crappy pop music.

How does that happen?

Supper's Ready is Genesis' best song, but I still prefer CTTE.

If you don't think Supper's Ready is the BEST song ever. YOU'RE DEAD TO ME!!!!!!!!!

...no I'm kidding. But seriously, I wasn't really a big fan of Genesis until now. Supper's Ready offers more to me musically than Close to the Edge. I felt like Close to the Edge lacked a message and therefore lacked a mood and imagery...albeit, you can argue that Jon Anderson is a good lyricist, but it doesn't really help me enjoy the song. I like Supper's Ready better because it's a bit more accesible and you can feel more involved in that song than Close to the Edge where you have to hear in awe as Rick Wakemen races his fingers around the keyboard...Give me a break.

I get up, I get down, I get up, I get down, I get up, I get down... What is this? A new rap?

Supper's ready forever and ever!

Supper's Ready, boring? What the heck? I mean, Yes is incredibly talented -- perhaps more so than Genesis, although it still think that's based mainly on point of view. But still... Boring?

I don't see how the 4-minute build-up to the chorus (which is quite good, don't get me wrong) in CTTE isn't boring to some extent. And the "I get up, I get down" section? Well, it all boils down to personal taste.

SR gets my vote, though.

*sigh* I would so like to understand this sentence... Does one have to be a native English speaker to get the idea behind it?

Glad to see CTTE still firmly ahead of SR. It's only right, after all.

Like all GOOD music, It depends how I feel. If I listened to CTTE or SR everyday for a year I'd probably end up hating (well maybe not that much) them. I have different favourites all the time and I think all these polls of top albums etc are a bit false. Both these give me great memories back in '72 when I saw Genesis at the Oval (with Wishbone Ash/ELP/Focus/Jack Bruce/Argent ....) and then i heard CTTE at a gig I played in 'The Growling Budgie' in Leytonstone I think.(yes that's what it was called and come to think of it they played Focus' Moving Waves too.. you don't get that at a gig now do you) At a stretch maybe CTTE ........ but then another day SR ??

yeah, if you ignore the 5 years of great music they made without peter gabriel before turning pop.

and some of their poppier songs are great, especially 'follow you, follow me'

As sure as Eggs is Eggs, the final part of suppers ready. Look at the little booklet that comes with the CD album. SR, Suppers Ready. "But there even" I guess I should have said until, not except in that sentance, but whatever. So there both just as good in my book until it gets to the ending of Supper's Ready, thats just exceptional, get it now??

Edit: You guys wouldn't know this but yesterday when I posted this I had an operation and probobly wasn't thinking to strait. So uhh... even though I can understand it, sorry if you can't.
