Like. I'm a huge DT fan (not that such a thing has a bearing on how I feel about it) and I'd say it's worth the four star ratings it seems to be getting.

Not a masterpiece, but their most balanced album between prog and metal. Like it a lot.

Same here. I think it's just plain boring.

An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess is my favorite album, or at least in my top3, so I know at least 2/5 of Dream Theater is capable of making a beautiful and enjoyable mix of classical, world-influenced, prog, and metal music that is pure ecstasy. I just don't know why Dream Theater can't do the same. If they could make a whole album with the complexity, musicianship, beauty, cohesiveness, melody, and energy of the song "Universal Mind" from LTE1, then they would fully redeem any misgivings!

Personally, I don't like it as much as their past albums. It's not THAT bad.. I just expected a better job from them, I guess..   3/5 stars on my list

Absolutely. An Evening with.. is incredible.
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

I would have missed it as I find parts of it to be brilliant , though it took me a few plays to get into it
