Abacab! I'd give it three stars and the rest about two (maybe a one for
the self titled). It has some decent to good tracks on it (first three,
dodo/lurker, last two) and despite the crap, the good outweighs it in
my mind.

Abacrap and Invisible Talent are awful
Calling All Station and We Can,t dance are nowhere near to toe level of Duke and ATTWT
Genesis "Shapes" has got its first side that is more than coirrect (almost Duke calibre), but the secoind side sucks big time (almost as much as Abacrap and Invisible talent
so Shapes takes the cake almost by default

I think all the ones I've heard are very good pop albums!
Abacab is good, and still has a bit of prog in it, and invisible touch is good, i traded joe satriani's crystal planet with my friend for it (i dont care for joes songs), but my favorite above all of them is callign all stations. A wonderful peice of neo-prog!

I'd say Abacab.
Kevin Gilbert was almost a lock to sing on Calling All Stations, and I think if he hadn't passed away we would all be praising that album.

It would have been Genesis - except that it includes Illegal Alien...
So it's Abacab by default.

Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974, it's a scientific fact.

We Can't Dance, only for the great epics (Fading Lights is just one of the best tracks the trio-Genesis ever recorded, IMO, and is placed well in the album) and the beautiful ballads. There are also powerful tracks like No Son of Mine. It's a good album, even by non-prog standards, but the prog elements that remained were still great!

Genesis was moribund in 1975 and died in 1978 and Phil Collins was his gravedigger...The name only subsists, but do you compare apples and pears?? No? So, why do you compare perfection and sh*t??

I personally have no problem with post Duke Genesis, in matter of fact my favorite period from Genesis is the Post Hackett era, it's the era I fell in love with the band, and unlike those that grew up with the progressive era of the band, Genesis was everywhere and everything thing the band released I loved... But even I am not foolish to compare Pop period Genesis to progressive era Genesis....
I love all Genesis albums but my favorite from post Duke period Genesis is Invisible Touch....

We can't dance, some decent songs, and I don't mind reasonable quality
pop music (like Jesus he knows me). Still only a two stars album at
best - and that's stretching it.
I had the chance to get Calling All Stations for the cost of one new
burnable CD, as a friend offered to burn a copy. After listening to it,
I respectfully declined.

Well I’ve been waiting, waiting here so long But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I’m falling, falling for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
Well I don’t really know her, I only know her name But she crawls under your skin, you’re never quite the same, and now i Know She’s got something you just can’t trust It’s something mysterious And now it seems I’m falling, falling for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
She don’t like losing, to her it’s still a game And though she will mess up your life, You’ll want her just the same, and now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I’ve fallen, fallen for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
She seems to have an invisible touch...
Ahhhhh... greart song
