It's as near perfection as an album can be in my opinion, but the chamber of 32 doors is a real favourite of mine.

Hohoho, I want to shoot Phil almost all the time, Iván... (just kidding)
BTW, My vote goes to "In the cage" (second best Genesis song losing only for "Supper's ready").

Fly On A Windshield (with Broadway Melody of 1974)
It's incredible how the tension is built up in the song. It's totally original, no one does it like Genesis.
Ivan said something about In The Cage that is was showcasing PG's most emotional singing. Well, for me Fly On A Windshield / Broadway Melody has PG's most subtle singing. The way he twists his voice, tells a story... superb!
|
Yep! I agree with this, I, too, love how Peter uses his voice on 'Fly'.
OK, this is the hardest poll ever... Last time I saw this thread, I hadn't even bought The Lamb yet. Now I've had it for a month and a half, and I'm positively crazy about it. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
It's a choice between:
- Fly on a Windshield
- In the Cage
- Hairless Heart
- The Chamber of 32 Doors
- Anyway
- The Lamia
And after some serious thinking, I choose....................The Lamia. Structurally a gem, musically a masterpiece, lyrically very vivid. In other words, just marvellous.

The Colony of Slippermen is the "best" track IMO but I'd never let myself listen to the album by a few songs or skipping.
It just isn't right with this masterpiece.
The other high-lights are:
- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
- In the Cage
- Back in NYC
- The Chamber of 32 Doors
- The Lamia
- The Colony of Slippermen (as mentioned)
- It

This was really hard.
I chose Chamber of 32 doors, the end is amazing.
I also love the title track, and It.

Yeah I'm surprised only 4 people voted for the colony of slippermen. It's a
great track.

Too much filler on this album but I like In The Cage. Saw the musical Box perform this album and the second half sent me to sleep!

It's probably 'In The Cage' or 'Silent Sorrow' and I voted for the latter considering the other one has leapt in front.

Oof, picking a favorite song on this album is like choosing which load
bearing support to remove from a building: they're all kinda essential.
I actually think of the whole thing as one multi-section song, as it follows a definite linear storyline.
Okay, okay! If you're going to hassle me about it, I guess I'll go with it. Whenever I hear it, it always gives me goosebumps, and when it ends it just makes me want to listen to the whole damn thing again.

An overated album with lot's of filler. Storyline very poor! Back In NYC is the best track on it though!
