The results of this poll are absurd ĄĄ
I mean, "Close" is great, but thereīs definitely much more to listen at in "Supperīs". If I had to burn a CD of 80 minutes for the rest of my life, I wouldnīt spend 18 minutes on "Close" while "Supperīs" is filled with much more ideas and images. ....After the third listen to "Close" all you remember is the chorus repeated over and over, not 23 minutes of different passages and colourful lyrics.
In "Supperīs" there is not a single word repeated to be catchy as in "Close". It doesnīt have 5 minutes of simplistic music and lyrics as the section "I get up I get down". Also, in "Supperīs" the main chorus,...or, call it main section, is never repeated at the end as a traditional pop song. Instead, Genesis presents one of the most bizarre, original and fascinating instrumentals in prog with "Apocalypse 9/8".
The result of this poll reminds me of that "Dark side to # 1?"...which was nothing but the result of a group of people giving 5 straight "one star reviews" to SELLING ENGLAND so Dark became No. 2.
By the way...where is taht poll?. Someone really erased it
Greetings snow dog ĄĄ. Did you get my last e-mail? I sent you a link to the "Zarathustra" album.

This poll must be fixed or maybe you can vote more than once? There's
no way CTTE is beating Supper's Ready this much. I agree with everything
eduardossc said. CTTE is a great song and a masterpiece IMO but
"Supper's Ready" is (at least IMO) the best composed song I've heard.
There are so many different emotions and musical parts that add color to
the overall message of the song. Now obviously people could disagree
but with such a great margain? Something's gotta be wrong here.

Whilst I agree Suppers Ready is a great song, I think it is too eclectic and it does have some 'silly' musically and lyrically moments, especially the middle part s ''an egg is an egg......'' ect !

I am a fan of both bands as I have stated before, but Close to The Edge is one of those albums that`s perfection personified. One day, Ill work up a review when Im not so tired. `And You and I' is one of those tracks where the production holds up well to this day.

It does get a bit too fragmented in certain parts whilst CTTE beautiful melodies and virtuoso musicianship keeps your attention throughout

I think that's probably why it's been trounced!

The lyrics are never silly. They are written as images and are to be
interpreted. Gabriel is not singing the "There's winston churchill dressed
in drag...." for nothing. All of it has significance. As for Close to the Edge.
Supper's Ready is so far beyong CTTE lyrically that the two are
incomparable. And for the music of Willow Farm being silly... This is
intended as well. It is supposed to give a fake type nursery rhyme
atmosphere for how "real" society (or "willow farm") is.

It's obviously fixed. The votes have gone up for CTTE by about 10 in the past
5 minutes (with 1 for Genesis.) Look at the people that commented saying
what they voted for. There seems to be a little bit more CTTE's but not by
much.
