Topic: Close To The Edge v. Suppers Ready Posted: November 01 2005 at 09:16 |
Both from 1972. Both long classics from two of Prog's Giants.
So, which one do you prefer?

I love both Genesis and Yes, and both CTTE and SR are musically real highlights.
That's a tough one. I like CTTE just a little bit more.

Supper's Ready. I like CTTE but much prefer the Gates of Delerium, for example.

I also prefer Gates of delirium, but I thought these two were more contemporary too each other.

Difficult choice because both are the ultimate prog classics. Supper's Ready was easily Genesis's best song and although CTTE is just as good, YES had the skill and creativity to go on and produce more epic classics. Unfortuneatly, Genesis lacked in that department!
So on that principal alone, I voted CTTE! |

I think it's like comparing strawberries and bricks, both brilliant classics, both expanding the barriers of rock, but in very different ways. You could add to this list of incomparable classics "Thick as a Brick" and perhaps "Tarkus". When a work stands on this level, it's really a matter of taste as to which is "better", you're strolling through the high alps of music.

Come on!!! One of these tracks is fresh and exiting, the other is just boring. CTTE clearly wins this, even though Suppers ready is genesis best song ever.

It is said to be the first Test-pressing of the corean release??
