Let’s write a concept...!

I have kind of an idea for an album, but I have to say, it's all very hush-hush for the moment.  I can enlighten you all though with the track titles.  The project is called Herculean and the album title is "I Am Not Agatha Christie".

Actually, I was thinking that this album would not necessarily be totally prog rock, but it would contain several genres, but with prog elements.  So it would have a cheerful beginning, or perhaps, tongue-in-cheek references and then would get darker (but would still contain amusing moments).  Influences would be Neil Young, VdGG, Moody Blues, Gov't Mule/Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan, Peter Hammill and lots of other stuff too.

Far fetched I know!

It's a pity I am not a great writer and I do not play any instruments.

A good way to write a prog concept is simply to write a surrealist nonsense story (ala Lamb) and put it to lyrics that make very little sense and make the story sound a lot deeper than it really is.

As for the concept album i agree to get Ayreon to do it as Lucassen seems to be able to get anyone and everyone to work with him and use Tolkiens story of Tuor and the fall of Gondolin as the concept. i know its a bit obvious but its a great story that deserves it

What about a latin american dictator that believes to have God taken by his beard*, and it`s about to start a third world war giving the oil money to guerrillas all over the continent?

Since there are obviously strong opinions on both sides, instead of a concept album that basically says war is wrong (basically every song that Roger Waters wrote after 1980), instead a group of musicians/composers could get together and write a double concept album.  The first disc would represent one side of the debate, and the other disc would represent the other.  Proceeds from the sales could be donated to some cause with which both sides can agree.

How about a concept album that shows the state of affairs between Bush's world and the rest of the world.  I am in a very large disagreement with what Bush is doing.  Personally, I would have to do my homework in order to properly state my case against what he is doing, but I feel pretty strong about it.  I feel a concept album that delved deeply into the whole situation in the Middle East and Bush would shed a lot of light.  It would be quite a learning experience also.
