Definately Genesis!!!!!
Of, course GG is a great band but none of their albums was as great as one of Genesis top four (NC, Foxtrot, SEBTP, Trick..)

Interetsing, both great bands if neither quite my favourites, allows me
to try and be objective....Gentle Giant have done the more radical,
progressive stuff yet...at their very best, Genesis produced (IMHO) the
better music...so I vote for them.

They're both great and why compare them?
Genesis are more relaxing for when I want to relax, GG are more challenging when I want to be challenged.
I'm neutral!

Genesis has more bad albums than Gentle Giant ("And Then There...", "Duke", "Abacab", "Genesis", "Invisible Touch", "We Can't Dance" versus "The Missing Piece", "Giant for a Day", "Civilian"), so it's Gentle Giant!!!

12-11 for Genesis. I'm in the process of getting into GG. They are really good but I don't see them ever matching Genesis (Gabriel-era that is). I haven't yet found a GG song as beautifully melodic as "Carpet Crawlers" or "Musical Box".

As much as I love GG, I'm gonna have to go with Genesis.

I have only heard Octopus from GG and some other songs but no full lp. It wouldn't be fair to vote. I love them both

I really haven't listened to a lot of Gentle Giant, but Genesis is surely better!

IF YOU ARE MORE INTO PHYMPHONIC PROGRESSIVE ROCK THEM GENESIS
BUT IF ARE INTO COMPLEX FUSION PROGRESSIVE ROCK THEM GENTLE GIANT!!!
BOTHS WERE TWO GREAT BANDS !!!!
TOOO BAD GENESIS BECAME SUCH A POP BAND IN THE 80'S
AND GENTLE GIANT IF AM NOT MISTAKING DISBAND IN THE 80'S RIGHT BEFORE THE END OF GLORY DAYS OF PROG)
I WOULD NOT SAY THAT GENESIS IS BETTER. ITHINK THAT IS MATTER OF WHAT I SAID AT THE BIGINNING!!!! AND A MATTER OF THE TASTE OF THE MUSIC , VOCALIST AND MUSICIANS..
FREE HAND IS AN EXCELLENT ALBUM AS WELL AS TRICK OF THE TAIL!!!!! JUST TO METION 2 OF THEIR BEST!!!!!
