Mine is the title of a Van der Graaf Generator song, in which Peter

Mine came from a word which got me an immense score in a Scrabble game (I had a blank for the third 'y'). I only discovered that there was also a prog band of the same name after I joined this forum - I've now got a copy of their album, though I can't say it's made a huge impression on me.
As for the meaning, look it up! (once an English teacher, always an English teacher).

No, really: I just though about a "cool" stupid nick-name (Bj-1) and used it. And also because "Bj" is the first letters in my name.

So is your real name like Bjork? Or Bjohann?
My username is an accidental mispelling of the first track off of Camel's "Moonmadness." It was half-intentional, half-not.

mine was a character in a sci-fi book by iain m. banks called "Consider Phlebus" - the character horza was a shapeshifter - one of the last of his race - and the story is epic, i have read it twice

Mine's taken from a rare-heard prog track included on an out-of-print LP by a virtually unknown English prog band who, in their prime, toured endlessly in the early '70s on the English college circuit without success before becoming disgusted and disillusioned with the whole shabby enterprise. They never made it Stateside.
I'll have to go look it up again...I'll get back to you...

I'm a real history buff and into left-wing politics ... Leon Trotsky was a hero from the time I was 9 (see what happens when you put history books in the hands of little kids )

quite obvious for me: I'm Jean (short for Jeanine; interestingly "Jeanine" is pronounced the French way, while "Jean" is pronounced the English way), and I'm bald. BaldJean is my nick on many forums. the same is true for my wife Friederike; for her "Friede" is short for "Friederike". coincidentially "Bald Friede" also means "Soon peace" in German.
question to Syzygy: does your name refer to the astronomical or the linguistic meaning of "syzygy"?

Maidenrulez...well there is more to this nick than meets the eye...
the M stands for Magma is a really neat band
the A stands for Armadillos should not be kept in bed
the I stands for Insanity is really unhealty for your reputation
the D stands for Dinner is best served after breakfast
the E stands for Eternity is a really daft thing
the N stands for Nobody can expect the spanish inquisition
the R stands for Rodney is a man that i have never known
the U stands for Unbeliviable that i cant think of any good prog band on U
the L stands for Lame nicks are best ended with an Z
the E stands for Erection wich is a really daft thing
the Z stands for ZZebra wich is a clever band name.
and when i got the cabitols together it suddenly formed Maidenrulez...ah well a really strange coincidence

The linguistic meaning - I only became aware of the astronomical meaning after I joined this forum.
