Mine is a nickname a friend gave me when we used to play football together (as in Ron "Chopper" Harris).

I think he was being sarcastic as I rarely got near enough to anyone to foul them.

I own a stuffed cat called Dale. I've made three horror movies called Dalezilla I, II and III (currently working on Dalezilla IV). Dale is the main character in the movies. So that's where my nickname comes from .

No, really: I just though about a "cool" stupid nick-name (Bj-1) and used it. And also because "Bj" is the first letters in my name.

Mine came from a word which got me an immense score in a Scrabble game (I had a blank for the third 'y'). I only discovered that there was also a prog band of the same name after I joined this forum - I've now got a copy of their album, though I can't say it's made a huge impression on me.

As for the meaning, look it up! (once an English teacher, always an English teacher).

So is your real name like Bjork? Or Bjohann?

My username is an accidental mispelling of the first track off of Camel's "Moonmadness." It was half-intentional, half-not.

Mine's taken from a rare-heard prog track included on an out-of-print LP by a virtually unknown English prog band who, in their prime, toured endlessly in the early '70s on the English college circuit without success before becoming disgusted and disillusioned with the whole shabby enterprise. They never made it Stateside.

I'll have to go look it up again...I'll get back to you...

quite obvious for me: I'm Jean (short for Jeanine; interestingly "Jeanine" is pronounced the French way, while "Jean" is pronounced the English way), and I'm bald. BaldJean is my nick on many forums. the same is true for my wife Friederike; for her "Friede" is short for "Friederike". coincidentially "Bald Friede" also means "Soon peace" in German.

question to Syzygy: does your name refer to the astronomical or the linguistic meaning of "syzygy"?

Posted By: Under
Date Posted: October 11 2005 at 10:43

This one is difficult for me.

I could say my nickname came from the beautiful song carpet crawler, where I totally dug in and under. But no....

I already have imagined and posted in the past that my nickname came from the event that I dragged Dream Theaters Subaru out of the mud, and they where shouting "Pull me Unde"!"and I shouted bag "You should make a song named like that". But no....

I could say my nickname is a rebelious one indicating pop is superfacial and prog is going deeper than that. But no...

I could say I am a great dictator with a big thumb putting everyone there....under. But no...

I could say I a just a grey mouse hiding and being put down under. But ...hope not...

The truth is it is just a preposition. But is it just a preposition? Or is it more than that and is it a challenging mystery what is behind this great word, which gives rise to emotions as darkness and sadness but also to relieve, escape and sacrificiation.
So much questions with a preposition and you, yourself, are in full control to create your sitaution around one.

Well, I almost covinced myself of the beauty of Under.

One fine day, in the late '60's / early '70's  a prehistoric sampler and an analog synth went out for a walk in a park. He saw her, and she fancied him. Mr. Moog and miss Mellotron married, and they got a child, and that child got a child, and that child got a child. The latter was being called Moogtron III, because he was the 3rd generation Moogtron.

And they all lived happily everafter...
