Flower Kings yah, I don't care too much for that name. I always thought Can was a dull name but maybe not for those into Krautrock?

Krautrock is my favourite part of progressive rock though i'm totally with you, Can is a very dull name

In Swedish, Can = Burk <--- if they change their name to this i'll quit listening to them

Its so irritating with people that does not like a bands music and therefore can not be objective about them at all. I can accept that people does not like the mars volta or dream theater but i think its just stupid sl*ggering them off by saying the mars volta has the worst drummer, dream theater is the worst prog band and so on. Although you do not like a bands music you have to learn to be objective about it. Although i forexample does not like toto i surely can agree on that steve lukather is a talented guitarist even although i does not like his style i can understand why he is called good. Although there will always be people that does not manage to be objective or serious at all and just want to sl*gger off many of the more popular bands. Because i think if you think about it im sure you can find a band thats worse than yes a drummer thats worse than jon theodore and a band name that is worse than dream theater.

Annexus Quam, a Krautrock band (whose first LP had one of the most interesting gimmick covers ever. The front cover could be folded in several different ways, and you could make 16 differnt covers. Very cool).

surely Puddle of Mudd wins. Not prog, I know, but it makes me gag.

Kamelot is a bit corny too.

That's one of the band-names that I really like!

Toto is a horrible name, but they aren't really prog, are they?

My partner used to play drums in a short-lived local punk band (who never made a record). They were named "X-Prep", which is a very heavy laxative. Hardly beatable.

dude, dream theater is my favorite band, and i can admit that the name "dream theater" is on the cheesy side of the spectrum.  it takes nothing away from the music, its just a comment on their name.

spock's beard isn't a great name, IMO.  does anyone know why they chose that name?

sometimes the meaning of a name can help to make you like it - i.e. understanding the thought that has gone into the name.

Eloy... I mean, great band but what's the deal with naming yourselves after the sheep-like sub-humans from 'The Time Machine'?  Of course, if they changed their name to 'Morlock', their fan base would think they'd recruited Dorothea Peche as a vocalist..
