Yep! Should we make how-to-do-it mass-PM about it, so the nasty record company men don't get a hint? I know how to do it... |

I preffered the mp3s too.
I'm glad I have broadband, thankfully it's relatively cheap in this country (where almost everything isn't). I'm curious too see the improvements on the streaming system. |

OK, I follow you. However, that's assuming you can actually stream the entire song. Other people have pointed out that it's not possible for everyone to do so. Also, if the computer on which you're downloading doesn't have a sound card, you can't do it (that's not an unrealistic situation - while I was studying I had to use university computer labs in order to download the mp3s, which I would then take home and listen to). Just one question, has there been an official explanation as to why the streaming as opposed to downloading has been implemented? I don't recall seeing one (and I'm too lazy to go back and check the previous posts in this thread ). Edited by Citanul |

Again this just shows the true foolishness of the record companies as it is the easiest thing in the world to make an mp3 out of streamed music. |

Just out of interest, how many record companies have complained about the mp3s being here? |

I think mp3 in this website was the main reason for news members engage in progressive rock and PA.

Would it be illegal to have 30 second samples of songs for download?

I think that might be legal, but 30 second samples of prog songs? Somehow I don't think that's going to work very well. |

unfourtnatly 30 second tidbits of prog songs would suck...like forexample 30 seconds of close to the edge or something...prog songs change to much to get a real taste of what the band is like.. |

I've never seen any Ayreon tracks here. If they had been here, I would have downloaded them . Of course, the complaint could have come in before I joined. I know you've probably considered this M@X, but couldn't you just remove the mp3s of those labels that have complained, and leave the rest here? I would have thought that it would mean that only a small percentage of the bands featured here would be affected. This means that people like me who can't stream the files would still have access to them (Marillion playlist still loading after 5 hours). Edited by Citanul |

Random playlist / genre playlist / playlist by date-added / custom playlists are all great features. I would add playlist by year released as well, if practical. Of course, that could be prone to error what with re-releases and compilations, but it could work. For those of us who listen @ work with T1/T2 or @ home with high-speed internet, all of this is great. I will probably benefit from it in the long run. I do, however, sympathize with those who are stuck on dialup and don't have a desk job with access to broadband technology. On a related note, I had been downloading MP3s from here alphabetically for the last month... I had merely gotten through most of the A's. :-( Edited by The Mister |

Well... Actually I never downloaded a single mp3 from the site. I try to seek information about some obscurer bands that might interest me, and I never managed to find any mp3's from those bands. But I feel very sorry for those who liked that feature. So you can't stream music to your computer, unless you have a broadband? How does that feature work? |
