Ok, more of a philosophical question:

Do you think there can be such a thing as perfect music?
And if yes, would humans be able to discover it eventually?
And any ideas how it would look like?

Well i suppose that depends on what ones definition of 'perfect' is.

For me, i haven't heard the perfect song yet, and i'm not sure i will. One thing i do know is that if there is even to be a song i consider to be perfect it would have to have been created by me. I'm the only person who can completely and sucessfully convey my idea of perfection to music.

Humans? Playing perfect music?

Such a silly notion.
Epic.

Rubbish!

The perfect music will never be written for me because beauty can only be achieved during the search for perfection. Once it's reached there's no point in doing any more music. King Crimson, the Soft Machine, Coltrane, Marillion, Mahler, Elgar, Devil Doll, Pain of Salvation and several others come pretty close.

it depends on the point of view. On the people, their moods and tastes.

Bach's c minor part in his well-tempered-clavier is perfect for me right now.

I prefer prog-metal silence

I have yet to listen to the perfect music, but I think Arena achieved it almost with the song Sirens.

It is a known fact that no man can resist the Sirens song

Indeed. Perfect music is here:

All music is perfect.

Music is the perfect expression of an individual, ond/or
individuals.

The perfect language.

Seriously,

I believe that an elitist attitude, and feeling you know
better, or are more cultured, or, more intelligent than
the majority is a limiting perspective.

"I get it, but 99% of THEM don't get it."

After all, this is a prog-rock forum.
What did you expect? Drones?
That's classic.

"Perfect" is such an ugly term...  I doubt that there is such a thing as "perfect" music, for the simple reason that (as others have either said or inferred) even "perfection" is in the eyes (or ears...) of the beholder.

I would say, however, that there are arguably some "perfect" songs, at least from the standpoint of composition (music/lyrics), arrangement, production, and, most importantly, overall "effect": everything "perfect," not a note out of place, not a note overplayed, etc.  I could probably name quite a few, but Comfortably Numb and 21st Century Schizoid Man come to mind immediately.

Peace.

Most importantly what was "perfect" for me at age 15 is not for me at 30.

I only hope what I consider "perfect" now at 30 will remain so at 45, but somehow I feel I will be condemned to listen to Adult-oriented soft pop when I get to that age
