My preferred drummer in prog is probably Pierre Moerlen.  I also love Vinnie Colaiuta.

Heh.  I'm checking out the Gilgamesh sample from the site, excellent.  Now, I have to find their albums somehow.  I'd have to download considering I don't ever get $.

Yes, certainly he is. Unfortunately Can is pretty unique; but if you like Jaki you should try the Phantom Band, in which he was drummer for a while.

While recommendations are being given away kindly, can I have a band that writes songs in epic style and uses a lot of flute? Name bands that are not known by every person here, yet are not so obscure, that I will never find them. :)

Mother Gong, "Fairy Tales", uses a lot of flute, and it has recently been issued on CD by Spalax (was previously available on vinyl only). The flute is played by Didier Malherbe, by the way.

A splendid collection - John Greaves should definitely be in the archives, what do you think about including Peter Blegvad? Most of his solo work is borderline IMO - much as I love his albums, and in particular his gift as a lyricist, the songs are not particularly adventurous musically. On the other hand, we've got Kevin Ayers and Syd Barrett in the archive and Blegvad's work sits nicely alongside theirs. What do you think?

I agree with you he is borderline; he is close to folk even on some albums. His collaboration with John Greaves though is definitely prog (a wonderfully dadaistic album), as is his work with Slap Happy. (Which just reminds me; I think I forgot to add Slap Happy to my list).

Just added the Third Ear Band to our collection, which I had forgotten for some reason. I hope this is all I forgot; with a collection as big as ours one can never be sure.
I deliberately left out Uriah Heep though (of which we only have the albums up to "The Magician's Birthday"). If bands like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple are not considered to be prog, Uriah Heep should not be included in the archives either. At least that's my opinion about them.
