Evidently we don't really see eye to eye on most music related matters...

I was sure here is a five page list, which I could spend my whole day on. Well... Amon Düül (in all incarnations) - I have only heard "Phallus Dei" by Amon Düül 2, which I truly liked. I'm working on checking the rest of them, as I have time. |

Revised and complete list of our collection; new additions in red. The first list was off the top of my head. I also listed solo projects of artists that played in certain bands seperately this time. This especially refers to bands like Gong and Hawkwind. The entry for "Amon Düül" was split up into three, as should be done. Aera Edited by BaldFriede |

Aera? Area probably? Grobschnitt, Bo Hansson, Kraftwerk: I admire them to some extent Patrick Moraz: don't like his solo stuff very much Ozric Tentacles, Tangerine Dream: can't get into them yet The Residents: they made some pretty good stuff; don't like everything Vangelis: I like some albums a lot, some leave me indifferent GTR: a few good tunes, for the rest very commercial stuff Olias of Sunhillow, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe, Aphrodite's Child, Peter Blegvad, Brand X, Camel, Caravan, Curved Air, Earthworks, ELP, Focus, Robert Fripp, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Gong, Gryphon, Steve Hackett, Peter Hammill, Hatfield and the North, Hoelderlin, Jethro Tull, Eddie Jobson, King Crimson, National Health, Nektar, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Return to Forever, Soft Machine, Traffic, UK, Van der Graaf Generator, Wakeman, Rick (only a few albums, indeed), Robert Wyatt, Yes: for a lot of what they did And for the rest: I still have a lot of music to discover |

You should listen to some Opeth, if Metal ends at Black Sabbath for you.

Darn, I copied and pasted, and he was last in the list, I missed him. Of course we have Zappa! Thanks for telling me of the omission! |

Read again. I said at the beginning that, unless noted otherwise, we have ALL of the albums of the listed artists. |

Fantastic. I like very technical and jammy music, but not too
meandering, and groovy or funky. I'm a fan of solos and very
tight melody, and excellent drumming (I'm a drummer). I hope I'm
not being too vague here.

I'm a drummer too. Let's shake hands! Gilgamesh or In Cahoots could be bands for you; also Soft Head and Soft Heap. That is if you like your drumming jazzy. If you like it more rocky, some early Guru Guru, like "Hinten" or "Känguru" would be excellent for you. By the way, who is your preferred drummer? |
