What do you like most about prog music.

The endless variation: one could, feasibly, listen to nothing but prog for their entire life and still listen to a huge range of totally different bands/soloists, from full on classical style compositions to folk, from new age to metal (some would disagree on that last one I know, but it's just an example). The fusion of so many different genres by each band is just awesome.

Also, the talent/skill of the musicians who play it, all with a totally unique style. Many of these musicians are classically trained, others have probably learned by a less expensive route, more still are self taught (e.g. Steve Howe or Vangelis) but in the end are unique and talented.

And of course, the variation within each song, and between songs by each band, both in terms of style, themes, time sigs and length.

Those are the best things about prog. PROG ROCKS

musicianship, musical composition, attention to detail, variation.

it is unlike any other musical genre I know.  with other types of music it is easy to get bored, you don't get that with prog.
