I'm going out on a limb here, but Would Santana (at least the Woodstock era Santana) qualify as prog?  True, they aren't from the united states, but they had a strong Latin influence running through them, and I always felt they were.  Anyone else?

yes, early should qualify but some may see them as
classic rock, they ride that line. But they are more
progressive than many Canterbury inclusions, they
were just good at it. Remember this is a
PROGRESSIVE ROCK site not PROGRESSIVE JAZZ
site!
