Damn, KE9...you just can't be happy, can you?

Here's how the rest of this discussion will go: I'll say Iron Maiden was one of the biggest inspirations for the prog metal genre, and you'll respond that prog metal isn't prog. Someone will get upset and the whole discussion will go down the tubes.

Dude, do you enjoy ANY kind of music whatsoever that is outside of prog? I do say that some of the greatest music ever belongs into the prog genre, but is discussing something- *gasp* non-prog such a crime? This topic is blatantly arrogant and stuck up. Quit being such a purist and going on your "musical cleansing" crusades. If you don't like it- leave (like you said you would...).

By T**T , did you mean TWIT or TWAT?!!?!

HeeeeeeeM!! Soorry about that !!!

Subgenres are a bother can be useful in describing music especially on such a site! I do not see it causing MAJOR problems in  the Archives.

But I know what you mean about these polls about anything that is best of anything! I get sick of them but also ignore them! All newcomers have a tendency to do those , because they still ignore such a thread has been done some thousands of time.

The best answer we can give is to start threads that elevate the level of this forum! This must be done with people with a good prog background.

It depends. It's OK to discuss Miles Davies, Keith Jarret... for example but just let me remind you of the annoying Slipknot excess... Only trolls should be exterminated and they were successfully so far!

Van Halen, iron maiden or Metalicca are the antithesis of prog, so please don't even quote them here!

I'm with Karn on this one.

I reccomend that if you dont like discussions about prog metal or any sub genre then dont join in them. Leave them for those who do follow the subgenres. A lot of younger contributors like the prog metal scene. I dont, but I'm middle aged. So, if you want prog to be celebrated into the future, you will have to accept that artists like DreamTheater and RADIOHEAD!!! are pretty much where the genre is nowadays, especially from a younger listerners perspective.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
