Hallowed be thy Name (Cradle of Filth does a great cover version, too)
Number of the Beast (it's a Lovecraftian fantasy set to music!)
Powerslave (love that spooky intro and the faux-egyptian soloing!)
The Prisoner (a damn solid tune even without the references)
Wrathchild ('Killers' in general had some great overlooked songs, Murders in the Rue Morgue is a favorite too)
Wasted Years (pretty heartfelt, in a metal way...)
I kinda lost track of Maiden after Somewhere in Time, so no favorites from then on.
I have a soft spot for "Rime" but musically it doesn't do as much for me as some of the more energetic pieces. It gets a little cookin' near the end, though! 
Maybe not prog, or even fully prog-metal, but just as worthy of discussion as anything else we've talked about that's not in the archives.

But there are countless others that came close like Flight Of Icarus,
The Clairvoyant, Alexander The Great, Wasted Years, Stranger In A

And you know ... even though Dream Theatre and Tool and 50 other bands
are prog-metal and Maiden aren't ... Iron Maiden always has more to
offer me ... whatta band 
In an interview with Steve Harris I did for a Malaysian paper (four or
five years ago when Bruce rejoined the band) he cited Genesis' Foxtrot
and Wishbone Ash's Argus as being albums that really influenced him as
a bass player and songwriter ... he also said that Piece Of Mind was
his favourite Maiden album for a long time, but he suddenly decided he
preferred 7th Son ...

Frenchie, Iron Maiden are supposed to sound that way. That's one of the main reasons they're so good. If you take these guys (and a lot of metal, prog and some other genres) seriously, you'll never get any pleasure out of them. Not that there's much wrong with taking music seriously, but the key to Iron Maiden and many similar bands (although doubtlessly talented) is good-natured laughter . For me at least, DT are not really an exception here. Although I don't approach them with the same level of warm-hearted irony as IM, I find myself unable to take them seriously and still enjoy them. To me both bands are just very good fun - and I'm more than certain it takes plenty of talent and hard work for a band to be "just very good fun".
Here's my top five, maybe you'll find these songs crafty:
1. The Nomad
2. Judas Be My Guide
3. Blood Brothers
4. Can I Play With Madness
5. No More Lies

I have to be honest with you King of Loss, I believe all DT members
(except La Brie) are very talented) I recognize they have Prog'
influence, but I find no defined structure, only many solos united by short passages of music.
But the main problem is that I like Iron Maiden, but I dislike DT's

Great Debate : Are these songs "without structure" ? I dont think so.
Technically, they're the same as prog band's songs : Melodical
developpements, reccurent themes, different sections etc....And small
songs like Disappear, Hollow Years etc...follow the classical "Rock
song structure"...
I could somehow accept that some people find them boring, but,
unstructured songs ? I don't see it (well, the very exception would be
"The Dance Of Eternity"...craziest instrumental !!!)
And, stop dissing LaBrie, for christsakes. For someone who appears more
than 2h30 a night every night during worldtours, he does a great job.
And, you'll say whatever you want, but I can't see any other vocalist
for DT. Dickinson is THE voice of Maiden, so is LaBrie for DT. I
don't say he's the best, I say that he's the most fitting vocalist for
DT.

My dear Frenchie, I don't take them seriously at all. I just laugh when I listen to their music for adolescents. I just can't understand how people that listen to Yes, Genesis or King Crimson can even survive more than 5 minutes of Iron Maiden crap.

I can listen to Yes, Genesis, KC AND Iron Maiden. And ABBA. Dream Theater often make me feel sleepy. My Maiden top 5 would be:
- Caught Somewhere In Time
- Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
- To Tame A Land
- Murders In The Rue Morgue

uh oh, looks like i will never be able to enjoy maiden if this is true, i cant stand the way that they seem to be taking the piss with all their over the top stage shows and stupid lyrics, vocals and riffs. I prefer my songs to be serious and meaningful, which i find in bands like metallica and DT cos they write about real things and rarely joke around, if Iron Maiden always joke around then i am not going to like them at all.

Early Genesis is even more "for adolescents" than Maiden. The return of
the Giant Hogweed ? Get'em out by friday ? I know what I like ? never
heard of these songs who have some sort of "we were young and wanted to
have fun" feeling  ?
