Its a tough call because I dearly love each and every one of those albums for their own merits. Im not gonna say which one I voted for.

Kudos to Gonghobbit for coming up with the poll in the first place (this is better than my Bruford poll!), and for giving us such essential Genesis choices! Again this is a hard poll for me to vote.  There is only one album in the list that I don't consider a truly great one and I think that that one is very very good.

Very cool someone likes Wind and Wuthering best, I totally love that one too, One for the Vine and Blood on the Rooftops are two of my very favorites by them.

Ahhh, very close decision, but I've always thought "Dancing with the moonlit knight", "Cinema Show" and "Firth of fith" were just too good to improve on...

They were what made the difference between Selling England and every other album...

I was the one who voted Wind and Wuthering. It's true that 'Sellin England', for example, could be considered a better album overall, but this is 'favourite' album  poll, and I just love the mood of 'Wind' and 'A Trick of'. 'Blood on the Rooftops' is one of my all time favourite songs (I recommend 'Strutton Ground' from Hackett's last CD as a similar song in mood). The cover is also my all time favourite (and one of my favourite drawins period).

I agree with Paco's reasoning - 'Selling England' is probably their "best" album, but I just love the feel of 'Nursery Cryme'; I defy anyone not to melt at the opening to 'Fountain Of Salmacis'

Well Fountain of Salamacis (or is it Salmacis?) is a very good song... It's got an Iron Maiden feel to it, or that's what I think for some reason, and Nursery Cryme is a very good album...

The Musical Box is just awesome... Still my vote's been cast, and all I'm doing is talking up the other albums that don't quite measure up to Selling England by the Pound...

Of course that's just my opinion...

'A trick of the tail' is Genesis' best album, despite Peter Gabriel's absence on vocals. 'Foxtrot' sounds very, very old, 'A trick of the tail' sounds fresh with sublime keyboard playing and Phil's best drumming. For me, the best Genesis record featuring Peter Gabriel would be to choose between 'Nursery cryme' and 'The lamb lies down on Broadway'.

I have also that same feeling with every Genesis record up to Foxtrot, 'Selling England' being a great turning point in sound quality and production. I think low quality production is dramatic in 'Tresspass', an album I really SHOULD like more than I do: hell, I am an Anthony Phillips fan!

Until a few years ago, I would have shunned the thought, but 'Trick of the Tail' is a damn solid album.  If it weren't for 'Ripples', I'd probably rate it higher than some Gabriel-era albums.  As it stands, however, I have to pick The Lamb; maybe just because I was weaned on it.

Selling England looks like the people's choice so far...I love Nursery Cryme too, 'Harlequin', as relatively obscure and mellow as it is within their work, is one of my favorites. Too bad everybody didn't leave Phil, and form another band

Agree with Paco. "Blood on the Rooftops" is amazing, and a good proof of how well could Phil deliver stunning melodies. Of course, his best singing was yet to come with "Duke". Still, I feel songs are more properly constructed on "Wind and Wuthering" than in the Gabriel-era albums (it is frustrating that such an amazing song like "Dancing with the Moonlight Knight" has such and abrupt and amateurish ending). But most important of it all: I love Tony Banks, and he never had more room to show his talent than in this record. "Eleventh Earl of Mar" or "One for the Vine" rank amongst Genesis finest moments. And, what the hell, I like "Your Own Special Way" as well.

Went for "Nursery Cryme", but it could have been any of them.
