I think I'll be a decent human being and compliment Dream Theatre, since everyone seems to be prersecuting them mercilessly.
I think they have a really f**king cool name.

In my humble opinion, come the year 2015, bands such as pre 1977 Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant will still be spoken of in revential terms as technical innovators, and leaders of the revolution - DT will prompt the response "Dream who? Oh yes, that heavy metal band who once flirted with progressive rock".
As I said, just my opinion.

For me Dream Theater is the best band in the world. There has never been a band with such great musicians.

Why does Dream Theater have to be innovative to be good?
Everyone says they're not innovative... so what?
You all say they're overrated and receive too much radio-time, yet a band of 5 virtuosos is hardly gonna be playing in pubs are they?

Dream Theater are one of the best bands of the 90's 00's but will never be the greatest prog band ever. They are not prog enough. A fantastic band though!

I do like DT a lot but I think a thread that asked this question of ANY
of the prog greast would get more no's than yes' (pardon the pun) as
opnion is so diverse (and a good job too if you ask me).

Whenever I think "DT is the best prog band ever" I listen to "Los Endos" and get kicked back to reality.

Sorry to break your guys' heart, but DT tries WAY to hard to be prog. They are show offs, and their music has no flow.

I was just about to start a sympathy thread for all
those who cant tell the difference between Dream Theater
and sh*t!
They play music as if the only instruction they've
ever had is watching the guitar duel set-piece from the
movie "Crossroads" |
Good one! Thanks for 5 minutes of uncontrollable
laughter. ( I'd better cut down on the..err.. cough
syrup)
