Annie Haslam would be most representative worldwide.

God, I'm second on the thread and he's already beaten me to her... but don't forget Heather Findlay, Rachel Jones, Sue Element & Tracey Hitchings (for services rendered to British Prog in the last decade..) |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Probably Annie Haslam, although Sonja-Kristina Linwood, Renate Knaup-
Krötenschwanz, Stella Vander and Dagmar Krause are also major figures. But it's certainly a myth that there have been relatively few female musicians in progressive rock: worldwide, there have been many hundreds over the years. |

And other than vocalists try violinist extraordinaire, Caryn Lin - her Tolerance For Ambiguity (Alchemy Records) is an important, instrumental fiddle album produced and augmented by David Torn. Amy Denio - vocalist, sax-player (founder member of the all ladies Billy Triptons Memorial Saxophone Quartet), bass player (played with Cow's Chris Cutler in Nude, Cow's Frith as the Tone Dogs ), etc. For more details: http://petit.sebastien.free.fr/denio.html where you'll find this album listed and good point to start (CIA has a fabulous bass riff) AMY DENIO: GREATEST HITS (2000)

Hey Greenback, I believe it's unfair to qualify Christina from Magenta just like a sex symbol, she's a great vocalist with one of the prettiest voices I ever heard, almost in the same level of Annie Haslam, but more versatile. Judge her as a musician not like a sex symbol (even when she's very pretty also). Iván

Ivan, I may judge anyone as I perceive it: she sings very well, but she is quite below the perfect Annie & Maggie. But she is ABSOLUTELY my type of woman: she is SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO sexy! |
