Not only wasn't that funny, it actually managed to be mildly offensive.  Forgive me if it means I have no sense of humor, but...

Classic post Tiresias! Showed plenty of humour and creativity.

I'm sure Fripp himself would laugh if he read it (no wait, he doesn't laugh at anything...maybe he would scowl or hiss in approvement)

Man that scared the BeJesus out of me. It's true that some people might be deeply offended by that but I was just relieved to see that it was a joke.  Nice one but just a tad bit too scary.

Though i knew something was up when you brought up his dying words. But still.

(and i apologize if you think i dont have a sense of humor. I was never the one to find deaths, or in this case fake deathes, funny)

I'm shocked that anyone could make a joke out of Queen being a prog band.Perish the thought.

D.G.M. Press Release 3.8.05 (NOT TRUE)

It is with great sadness that we report that Mr. Robert Fripp (STILL LIVING) , the founder and benefactor of DGM was rushed to the Central Manchester Hospital (GOOGLED IT) in England at approxiamately 2:15 p.m. (A MADE UP TIME) suffering from horrible chest pain(HE'S NOT IN PAIN, HE'S FINE).  Despite the doctors' best efforts, Mr. Fripp was taken from us far to soon(LIES) at 2:53 p.m.(MADE UP TIME) as the result of a heart attack. He was 59 years old.(AGE TO DATE)  The musical community and DGM will forever mourn the loss of this Fallen Angel(SONG TITLE ON RED).  His last words were directed to the progressive rock community, in which his soulful expression of music was always accepted with much love:

"Queen is progressive rock"(QUEEN IS NOW ON ProgArchives)

Robert Fripp in performance.(WIKIPEDIA)

Lest we forget a dying (STILL LIVING)man's wish:

Robert Fripp: 16 May 1946 - 3 August 2005(TODAY'S DATE)

That's how it is.

(THAT'S HOW IT IS)

PSYCH!!!!!!

(IT'S A JOKE????)

Sorry guys, Frippy's fine and I'm just bored (APOLOGY)

Better???

...So is he okay?

JK

Life seemed to him merely like a gallery of how to be.

You know what is the ugly thing that can happen out of this?
That someday,I hope not before the next 30 years pass,Fripp will eventually end his mission on Earth and on the announcement of his death,we will say "Yeah, right, don't fool me twice"...

And that would be sad for such a person like Fripp...

I thought that was going to be the first time I cried for a musician.

You see, the problem is that I clicked on that, read it, and was immediately shocked to the point where I didn't even think about scrolling down.  I then emailed several Fripp loving friends and was unwittingly ensnared in your stupid, tasteless "joke."  I just don't think you can take into account the various ways something like that is going to be viewed and how people are going to react.  I found it so shocking that I immediately clicked out and began to search for news of it.  It would never have occurred to me that someone on this site would make a joke about the death of a prog giant, especially Fripp.  Whatever.
