D.G.M. Press Release 3.8.05 It is with great sadness that we report that Mr. Robert Fripp, the founder and benefactor of DGM was rushed to the Central Manchester Hospital in England at approxiamately 2:15 p.m. suffering from horrible chest pain. Despite the doctors' best efforts, Mr. Fripp was taken from us far to soon at 2:53 p.m. as the result of a heart attack. He was 59 years old. The musical community and DGM will forever mourn the loss of this Fallen Angel. His last words were directed to the progressive rock community, in which his soulful expression of music was always accepted with much love: "Queen is progressive rock"
Lest we forget a dying man's wish: Robert Fripp: 16 May 1946 - 3 August 2005

Ha. At least that post got me. One other person I had followed though the media died just a litte time ago in unexpected way. And I haven't done much surfing, so I wasn't aware of such jokes as this. Congratulations to you! Black humour -> After all, I think Fripp would be much happier dead. He would personally get rid of all his fans, which seem to bring an unbearable agony to his elevated soul. |

You see, the problem is that I clicked on that, read it, and was immediately shocked to the point where I didn't even think about scrolling down. I then emailed several Fripp loving friends and was unwittingly ensnared in your stupid, tasteless "joke." I just don't think you can take into account the various ways something like that is going to be viewed and how people are going to react. I found it so shocking that I immediately clicked out and began to search for news of it. It would never have occurred to me that someone on this site would make a joke about the death of a prog giant, especially Fripp. Whatever. |
