I can't STAND all the multi-universe/multi-earth garbage in DC comics - and that's coming from someone who collects a stack of their titles. I especially don't like it when those sci-fi/supernatural elements cross over into the Batman related titles, which work FAR better when they're grounded in hard crime/action. No end of it in sight, either...! Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - October 07 2012 at 18:48 |

Marvel, for Deadpool, and the fact that they can resist the urge to destroy their univers during every event, unlike DC

Hey Raccoon, no problem about the comics, I'm always pretty easy-going with most stories, there's really very few where I've thought `What are load of crap!' and thrown it down in disgust! Most of the time I'm pretty easy to entertain lol!
Don't know if you would know the two `Angel Punisher' 2 miniseries from the late 90's or early 00's, where the title character had the supernatural weapons?! THAT's about the closest I've come to getting REALLY angry! Fortunately I have a very easy-going partner who's happy to put up with my continued comic collecting and prog music obsessions! Oh, cheers for your kind words, yes, a few of the others on here posted some kind words about my reviews, and I find it very humbling! I love everyones opinion on the Archives, I get a real kick out of the wildly different opinions on albums/artists from everyone! |

Honestly, no problem! Glad you're interested!! I just needed to share my favorite mini-series. Through the comics, heroes try to take him down so he's fighting Iron Man and such, I just think that's awesome. Oh, unrelated, but great reviews for your prog albums!! I remember seeing your name in the thread "Great Reviewers" or something like that. Always interesting to see your take on such popular albums since they're usually similar to my opinion! |

Thanks, Raccoon, I looked him up on Wikipedia for a crash course in his history, and noticed he seems to have a lot of history with the Avengers, as you've mentioned!
Awesome gear on him in the pic you supplied, I'll have to look into that series. There's a few shops around my way that have tons of back issue comics they can't seem to move at all, so I may dig through there for it! Thanks! Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - October 01 2012 at 22:42 |

Haven't read comics in ages (literally), but back when I did it was Thor, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Captain America and Spiderman, so Marvel all the way. Great antagonists like the Red Skull, Dr. Doom and Loki.

Taskmaster's the guy from some of the Moon Knight comics, right? I don't know too much else about him other than his appearance in that series from a few years back!
Is there a particular run of stories/series that you'd recommend to someone for this character? Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - October 01 2012 at 20:26 |

Yep, still leaves the mark! Although there seems to be some confusion over HOW he actually does that, especially considering the comic has run for almost 80 years now!!! It's been mentioned that it's either through sheer force of his punch that it imprints on the skin permanently, or maybe that the ring leaves a permanent `stamp' on the skin due to the juice of an ancient berry in his homeland lol! :)
Interesting, I just looked it up and came across this on Wikipedia: "MythBusters "Superhero Hour" On MythBusters season 5, episode 17 "Superhero Hour", it was tested whether the Phantom's skull ring would make an imprint on someone when you punch them while wearing it, as it does in the comic. The result was the myth was "busted", in that hitting a person in the face hard enough to leave a ring imprint on the skin requires more than enough force to crush a human skull. In the comic, it has been revealed that the Phantom's ring actually has sharp edges and is covered with a permanent ink synthesized from plants found in the depths of the Bengallan jungle, leaving a permanent scar-like mark. It is, in effect, an instant tattoo." So there you go! Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - October 01 2012 at 04:28 |

Can't believe I've never voted in this before, as I've collected comics for over twenty years now (still going too...)!
I voted Marvel, probably because The Punisher is my all-time favourite character. Even though I prefer the Marvel comic books and characters, these days I seem to collect more DC titles. Batman's current run under Scott Snyder has been killer! Check it out! I should add, I also love the American newspaper strip character The Phantom, which was a large following here in Australia! We've kind of adopted him as one of our own! |

DC, simply because they have the greatest comic book hero of all time, Batman.

Mmmmhhh!!!...
While I spent my youth in Canada, I did more or less read some US comics, but my European heritage made that I concentrated on Belgo-French commics... Soo i kind of never looked at the editors. I've known the CD and Marvel names for years, but I can't really see who publishes what heroes/series Could anyone list of few of the main ones (not just the old classics, but the new "best sellers") per publishing house? Thanks Strangely enough, I got into North American comics authors in the 90's, once I crossed back the pond? Seth, Robinson, Chester Brown, Rabagliatti, Beaulieu... but most of these guys are loners, auto-didacts and autobiograhical. They're just not representative iof the US comics of today and yesteryears |

Always loved Marvel's universe of characters more, with two exceptions...
Teen Titans (better than Marvel's X-Men) Swamp Thing (better than Marvel's Man-Thing) |

Well it all depends on whether you count Vertigo. If you do, DC is easily more adult than Marvel. Take away Vertigo and it's probably pretty even. DC might still have the edge there, but I still prefer Marvel's stable of characters.
