Much more solid indeed, except they lost.

Spain?! Hahahaha, don't make me laugh.
On paper they have a fantastic team. However, Fabregas was on the bench... why?

Spain - Portugal. Either team could progress i predict Spain Paraguay - Japan. Difficult to predict but i give paraguay a bit bigger chance
Quarter finals Argentina - Germany. Match of the Giants. Difficult to beat Germans but i
think Messi will find a way. Uruguay or Ghana guaranteed the 4th place, probably Uruguay. Brazil - Netherland. Netherland has no change at all. Paraguay - Spain. (or Japan- Spain) Easy for Spain
semi finals Brazil - Uruguay (or Ghana) Easy for Brazil Argentina - Spain. Easier than beating Germany
3rd place Uruguay (or Ghana) - Spain. Spain has a big edge
Final
Argentina - Brasil. Would be a fantastic dreamy final and absolutely unpredictable. Brazilian defence line is almost perfect. No one could help Argentina except Messi.

OK, who voted for England?
Paraguay, because I drew them in the sweepstake at work.

I think you guys are optimistic. Yeah Germany can win it, it's possible, but there are other much more solid teams: Argentina and Brazil. Both Germany and Spain have shown major weaknesses (but I agree that they can both catch a good day and blast any other team off the field). Also, I would have added The Netherlands to my favourites list that I posted at the time of the group phase (Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain), but unfortunately one of Brazil and Netherlands will have to stop in the quarter finals and I think it will be them.

they (Spain) have my preference, but I voted Brazil, because a European team never won the WC outside Europe.

Argentina has had a very good start. If they continue like that, they’ll be hard to beat.

I guess then it's a forgone conclusion that the US ain't gonna get it. I really don't give a fig about sports, but what exactly is in the cup anyway?
