However Tuatha De Danann are now on PA

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Bruno's 2008 solo album (as Braia) was called "...E O Mundo De La", and hasn't got any metal in it at all. Pure folk rock, with both male and female vocals, & sung in Portuguese. He played several instruments on it himself, but there were many guest musicians involved too. All 10 tracks from the album are on YouTube - you'll find them by going to this link http://www.youtube.com/user/WeenaMorlocc#p/u and scrolling down the list of 28 posted videos, but here's a couple of the songs just to give you a feel...

Maybe the prog folk team can decide from these whether to evaluate him as a solo artist too - the short instumental passage between around 2.45 and 3.06 in the second sample is about as close to there being any metal in this album as you get.

It was quick Big smile...

I have written some bios but it's the first addition since when I've been promoted so I don't know exactly where to click.
Let me try tomorrow morning (CET) in case I have probloems I'll PM somebody...

Effectively Braia is the "prog soul" of the band. This is what he says, but I've listened only to the few samples on youtube.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Seems that Braia is more likely to be added here than Tuatha de Dannan.

If you like them so much I have also suggested the frontman "Braia" who has released a solo album in 2009 that he defines "progressive".Wink

In the case of a band such as this, who show so much variety in their material & are hard to accurately categorize, I think that the important thing is not to worry so much about WHO has them, but more about making sure that SOMEONE has them! Their style, varied as it was even in the beginning, has changed to a certain extent during the course of their development over the four released titles between 1999 and 2004. Their first (demo) album is a mixture of some old songs from two earlier EPs and new material, switching between delicate Celtic folk passages and much heavier material with occasional death metal growls - in places even within the same song! Their second is similar but with all new material, & is a far more polished production. The third introduces even more variety and complexity into the song-writing and musicianship, a development which is continued yet further with their fourth and final release (so far). The band's 2009 DVD is esentially a set of "acoustic" versions of a selection their songs from their four studio albums. They have opened for bands such as Nightwish and Blind Guardian, and played the Wacken Open Air festival in 2005. I guess the problem is that they have their feet firmly anchored in two widely contrasting camps, and it seems that neither is going to be keen to accept them (& indeed prog metal team have already said "no").
I'm going to post a few YouTube vids now which show the band live in both electric and acoustic mode, as well as a couple of studio album tracks. Songs from all four albums are featured here.

This is a highly skilled and much respected bunch of musicians, whose music, whatever else it may be, is certainly progressive for the most part. I had never listened to them until I saw this thread on here, a sad omission from my musical curriculum vitae, I feel - so thanks to octopus-4 for introducing them to us. I would like to see them included on here somewhere, and I hope all possible efforts are made to do so.

Well the Prog Folk Team said they're willing to give this band a chance if the PMT doesn't want them, so I'll notify the PF team.

This is a metal band that has been evaluated and rejected by the Prog Metal Team.

If we would have thought they weren't Metal but maybe Prog Folk we would have passed them on to the Prog Folk Team already.

Could someone call the Prog Folk Team? I think they deserve a place on PA.

I've seen on Progfreak that TdD have been definitevly rejected, so unless there's room for them in the prog-folk section (and I don't think) I think we can close the thread.

I "feel" them as a prog band but I'm happy enough to have raised the discussion (lost 5 to 3). There's already enough stuff to review on PA. Thanks anyway.
