Getz is one of the most over-rated bassist IMHO.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer

Yes, I like bossa nova, at least Antonio Carlos Jobim. I love his masterpiece Waves (1967), as well as some of his work with Elis Regina.

Stan Getz: I still need to check him out. Thanks for the reminder.

Apparently Alex Lifeson likes him... (listen to his rant on La Villa Strangiato on Rush in Rio). Overall, I'd say he's pretty cool. A very cool jazz man.

Look for Getz/Gilberto, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim, it's a classic and contains the previously mentioned "Desafinando" and "The girl from Ipanema".

I'm sorry Domi, but i don't like Stan Gets that much... I prefer more energetic saxophone players (like Cannoball Adderly).

One of the few cool jazz-like jazz players I can appreciate.
