they were called TAB TWO? Brilliant!
Belle Affair and Between Us are two good starting points? great album names really strikes my curiosity, wont expect better than Kraan but want to hear where their brains/talent took them. Many think me to be a pain, but I fish for information like yours. Szyergy?(very knowledgable), philippe(euro-conniesuer?), danbo(up and coming), Karnevil9, greenback(symphonic), James Lee,, even Dick Heath are good brains to pick. dont disguard there advices ! ![]() |

By the way.In case you did not know.(and if you care) In the 90es Kraan was off,and Helmutt Hattler had a new duo with the last albums (Kraans)Keyboard/trumpet player Joo Kraus. They put out about 6-7 discs, which are unique.Jazzy/triphop/rappy/loungy/newagey stuff.Very very good. Not as good as Kraan though. |

I dont think their english is bad, they are 90-95% on,
waayyy better than most! I dont think their is a classic italian prog band that matches them in english. No contest! At least they are coherant spacey lyrics, as opposed to garbage pail everywhere everything. I would say lyrically they are years ahead of say Rush! I chose Kraan for this thread to point out that if you take 4 Kraan albums vs 4 of the best Canterbury albums from any band you will find as much diversity in the Kraan albums as their is in the 4 Canterbury albums. ![]() Edited by DallasBryan |

Kraan is still going (somewhat) strong. They put out a new album in 2003.It is excellent. I have been a huge fan of them since 78 and have seen them a few times, last at progday in 2002 i think it was ,and they were very well received. So well ,that they were invited to Nearfest the following year. OK,so they can sound a bit quirky and them singing in english is not the best. But as instrumentalists ,they are up there fershure. They have a great website www.kraan.dk where there is a ton of history and inf. check'em out |

Kraan or Cacklebury
that is the question, for me Kraan smokes the kids, England is best to stick with their output from the kings of progressive: Moodies, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, ELP, Jethro Tull and Brian Eno. The french smoked your knickers in progressive fusion, face it you are not superior you are a contributor! ![]() |

Good morning is fantastic but ''This is the happiest time of our lives'' is his best for me.But 'Bannana moon' has a feast of artists playing..Rob Wyatt etc. Excellent. |

And where was Kraan Live (the 1975 one, obviously) - the finest hour and a bit of an excellent band. Aside from the jazz influence, which manifested itself in vastly different ways, I don't see many grounds for comparing Kraan with any of the Canterbury acts, although Pierre Moerlen's Gong have something in common I suppose. Kraan are more of a jamming band, whereas the Canterbury pilgrims veered between carefully scored pieces and free inprov. A better point of comparison may be the Fripp/Collins/Burrell/Wallace edition of King Crimson - check out Live in Berkley '71 to hear how awesome they could be. |

Your right Dick the live is great, im just a studio album guy. Kraan are good enough musicians to make their live performances superior. I concer! I must say that their 4 best studio albums are equal and diverse as the 4 best Canterbury albums from all the combind artists. IMO! But I am retired as a musician! Qualtiy vs Quantity. |
