Could someone please elaborate on this? Which albums/songs have this production problem? Is this just with the two disc extra stuff or the actual albums have bad mixing?  Nevermind, I get it now.

Also, it would be awesome if someone could scan the booklets and upload them somewhere!

If anyone is still looking to get this, I just received my copy from Amazon.ca for $80 USD, shipping included. It took them a little over a month to get it back in stock and to my door from Canada, but it was well worth the wait.

I got mine! This boxset is just fantastic!! I can't help listening to all the albums over and over again, well apart from Merci, I still didn't listen to it...

My personnal favourite is Udu Wudu!! I love KA as well and of course MDK and Köhntarkösz :)

Well? No one to add it to the database or to post more impressions here?

It's arrived! And what a thing of beauty it is too. My lady's going to be so SICK of hearing Magma by this time next week. LOL

I just ordered this, rather spontaneously, from caiman usa. I got almosy nothing but money for christmas this year, and decided I'd get a bunch of CDs and DVDs from amazon with it. This boxset turned up during my travels and, after ten minutes of gawping, I decided it was a worthy recipient of my festive pounds. As with a lot of other people who've ordered this set, I'd previously only had their music on mp3s (and not particularly legal ones at that). For a band who've consistently occupied my top five list ever since discovering them five or so years ago, that's pretty shameful. Hooray for surprise boxsets!

Since I already had almost all the albums in mp3 form, it was really the liner notes and pictures that was great for me - although as Magma are now one of my favorite groups, it's nice having their discog in CD form, in a nice box to put on the shelf.  The per CD price can't be beat.

I've only had digital copies of their albums, so I decided to get this a couple of days ago..  I also wish it was an LP box set instead of cd...

So, what do you all think?

Overall, I think it's a wonderful thing - with some minor complaints.

Besides the two discs of new material, it's great to have the accompanying booklets for each album, with liner notes from various people and commentary from Christian Vander. The box looks wonderful, and the discs are designed beautifully, allowing you to remove the booklets from the digipack if you wish. Bravo!

On the nit-picking side... since they're making most everyone buy albums they no doubt already HAVE, I think it would have been nice if they would remastered the discs to include bonus tracks. I stupidly sold off my original CD of "Kohntarkosz" years ago, so the alternate version of that piece found on the early issue of that CD would have been nice to have. It would also have been highly interesting to hear outtakes from the rest of the albums, or at least pad the discs out with "Simples" and the various other studio recordings that have been legitimately issued here and there. As it is, all the new material is confined to the last two discs – and they're nothing to get very excited about. The alternate "MDK" was already available on the early issue of THAT CD, the film soundtrack material – while interesting, has been squashed with noise reduction, while the 1st album acetates HAVEN'T had noise reduction applied - and should have, since they're full of crackle. The most interesting thing, for me, was the version of "Eliphas Levi" with drumming - then again, I'm probably one of the few people who actually LIKES "Merci." LOL

Finally, I would have liked to have seen the BACK cover artwork reproduced somewhere in the booklet – and maybe even the original record labels and discographical information.

Nit-picking aside, however, I'm delighted to have the set – and it's certainly a great way for someone who's just getting into the band to pick up the most important part of their catalog.

I got mine, it's wonderful.
The booklet of Wurdah Itah talks about an early recording of the piece that was absolutely wild and savage. "We had a truly furious will to play, but it did us all good and that demo will always remain something of a legend".
Does anybody know if there is a recording of this floating around? I REALLY want to hear it after reading about it.

Same here!  Arrived today but have to wait another 2+ weeks to listen... Ouch

Wayside is now offering the box for $115 for residents of the US, and $130 for everyone else.
