Hi!
A boxset with 9 albums, I thought it could interest some of you! As I have only MDK from them, I'll surely get this boxset! It's released in November 20th

Now that I own three studio albums, two live albums and the "Kompila", I'm not sure to buy this boxset. But there is this unreleased double CD... Is there any plan to release this double album apart from the box?

I just pre-ordered it on Amazon.fr. ![Big smile Big smile](smileys/smiley4.gif)

Even in France, the boxset will be expensive, for the Euro being a bit stronger than the Dollar. Speaking of that subject, I went to a store two weeks ago, seeking for CDs by Univers Zero or Present: the store didn't have any of their discs and could only order it in "import" from across the sea (yeah, I like being a bit melodramatic)... To import the records of Belgian bands from the USA to France appeared as "weird" to me. Luckily, I still find Magma CDs in the corner store without any custom fees.

If you google "Magma 40 ans", apparently Target ( ) plans to sell the box set for $150. I'd really like more detail on its contents, though.
edit: looks like it's all the studio releases, save for "Wurdah Itah"?

All I can say is that it inculdes the 9 first studio albums ;) and again, I'm sure Caiman (at Amazon) will sell it!

If it really includes the first 9 albums, it will really be a great deal! The first one is nearly impossible to find here and even on ebay! If some store sell it in North America then it will be a sure buy for me!
Just say it comes from French Canada![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) ![Wink Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif) |
In fact I live in Quebec so it would be great ;)

Well, on the French site of Amazon, the price announced for this boxset is 81 euros (and 41 cents). Wow. It's nearly half the price Target wants to sell it. For my part, I will focus on their new live record.

Well you can see the nine cover arts beneath the boxset picture and that's what "L'intégrale en 9 albums" means ;)

I checked on the Amazon.fr website for the shipping price of the boxset to Canada, and it was like 10 Euros. It seems pretty low to me, has anyone ever imported something from Amazon.fr to America? If yes, is it simple like that?

I pre-ordered the boxset from Amazon.fr, and it said it would ship to the USA (delivery time about 2 weeks). I hope it does ship properly. 10 Euros sounds about right for international shipping.

Logan spends too much time posting here, and not enough time earning money to justify purchasing such a box-set that duplicates so much of what I already own. And I consider vinyl editions to be better collectibles. That said, I'd love to have it (especially for the booklet).

The price is 105€.

Ah, news from Seventh Records! Now, I'm sure this boxset exists AND is official! But "Inédits" isn't included (it's logical on an intellectual and historical point of view). Anyway, there's this "Archiw" CD.

I got mine, it's wonderful. The booklet of Wurdah Itah talks about an early recording of the piece that was absolutely wild and savage. "We had a truly furious will to play, but it did us all good and that demo will always remain something of a legend". Does anybody know if there is a recording of this floating around? I REALLY want to hear it after reading about it.

So, what do you all think?
Overall, I think it's a wonderful thing - with some minor complaints. Besides the two discs of new material, it's great to have the accompanying booklets for each album, with liner notes from various people and commentary from Christian Vander. The box looks wonderful, and the discs are designed beautifully, allowing you to remove the booklets from the digipack if you wish. Bravo!
On the nit-picking side... since they're making most everyone buy albums they no doubt already HAVE, I think it would have been nice if they would remastered the discs to include bonus tracks. I stupidly sold off my original CD of "Kohntarkosz" years ago, so the alternate version of that piece found on the early issue of that CD would have been nice to have. It would also have been highly interesting to hear outtakes from the rest of the albums, or at least pad the discs out with "Simples" and the various other studio recordings that have been legitimately issued here and there. As it is, all the new material is confined to the last two discs – and they're nothing to get very excited about. The alternate "MDK" was already available on the early issue of THAT CD, the film soundtrack material – while interesting, has been squashed with noise reduction, while the 1st album acetates HAVEN'T had noise reduction applied - and should have, since they're full of crackle. The most interesting thing, for me, was the version of "Eliphas Levi" with drumming - then again, I'm probably one of the few people who actually LIKES "Merci." ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif)
Finally, I would have liked to have seen the BACK cover artwork reproduced somewhere in the booklet – and maybe even the original record labels and discographical information.
Nit-picking aside, however, I'm delighted to have the set – and it's certainly a great way for someone who's just getting into the band to pick up the most important part of their catalog.

Since I already had almost all the albums in mp3 form, it was really the liner notes and pictures that was great for me - although as Magma are now one of my favorite groups, it's nice having their discog in CD form, in a nice box to put on the shelf. The per CD price can't be beat.

I just ordered this, rather spontaneously, from caiman usa. I got almosy nothing but money for christmas this year, and decided I'd get a bunch of CDs and DVDs from amazon with it. This boxset turned up during my travels and, after ten minutes of gawping, I decided it was a worthy recipient of my festive pounds. As with a lot of other people who've ordered this set, I'd previously only had their music on mp3s (and not particularly legal ones at that). For a band who've consistently occupied my top five list ever since discovering them five or so years ago, that's pretty shameful. Hooray for surprise boxsets!

Which albums/songs have this production problem? Is this just with the two disc extra stuff or the actual albums have bad mixing? Nevermind, I get it now.
Also, it would be awesome if someone could scan the booklets and upload them somewhere!
