Don't feel bad for Roger. He's loaded and has his place in history as one of the greats. Nadal is just a beast and Roger doesn't have the edge he had 4-5 years ago. It ain't easy keeping up the mastery he has given us. |

Just can't believe Roger couldn't outlast Rafa; the way Fed blazed through Roddick, has the extra rest, whereas Nadal had to have a 5 hour slugfest against Verdasco....I was sort of rooting for Fed in this one, but what can you say? Rafa just has his number right now. The rest of the season should be interesting.

I saw the last 2 sets of Nadal-Verdasco and that was unbelievable. How Nadal came back to beat Roger after that is truly super human.
I don't know how Fed keeps motivated anymore. He's filthy rich and has won everything. Chasing Sampras may not be enough for him to keep working to overcome Nadal |

Yeah, come think of it, the gas was over, in every way, after the first half of the fourth set: no more struggle with winning points, once broken (Rafa in the fourth, Roger in the fifth) the faith of the set was decided, and even the audience entertained a much colder atmosphere. But until then, it was the long-awaited and highly-rewarding deathmatch of the tournament. |

^ Yes, fantastic game. It was sad to see Roger lose his grip towards the end of the game though.

http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/match_reports/2009-02-01/200902011233408752625.html In short words, yet another Grand Slam final that was enthralling. |

You could send me money to buy you tickets. Interestingly enough my parents got free tickets because someone in my church had bought some but couldn't go for some odd reason so my parents got to go to Wimbledon for free! |

I have never really watched much tennis but I guess since I live less than 2 miles from Wimbledon I might as well get into it. Also considering Andy Murray is mostly good I guess I can have some national pride.

Wow...when was the last time that neither the USA, neither Russia managed to reach the Davis Cup final?
Roddick and the gang met the Spanish Bulls on their clay ground, so they were pretty much doomed against Nadal, but Ferrer pulled an awesome 8-6 in the decider (coming back from 1-2 at sets) against Roddick. Meanwhile, Spain is to go to Argentina for the final, where young Juan Martin del Potro is rising fiercely (in fact, the only people to beat him these days could only be perhaps the top trio + Murray) and both matches with him will be a showdown. |

If Murray had played as well as he had played against Nadal, the Final would have been very close. This looks like Murray's best surface. I would still say Federer is best on grass, but the level of his performances at Flushing Meadows were way above his Wimbledon performances. |

Rafa constantly progressed this year, despite also losing. This semifinal exit - as well as that in Australian Open - were better results than last year. His only fluke was perhaps Rome, before Roland Garros, when he lost early as a defending champion. Otherwise: Queens, Wimbledon, Cincinatti Masters - high improvements. I'm sure Rafa will train to play the US Open final next year; this time, it was a bit too much for him, after too many consecutive successes. |

Congrats to Roger, he really made an excellent tournament and he deserves, thus, his 13th Slam. His year wasn't as good as the previous, but that didn't meant, for me at least, that he didn't play quality tennis and kept somehow his "invincible" aura. The pre-US Open acts were a bit fluked, but at least he was one of the two tennis artists who gave us such a Wimbledon final, and here I really enjoyed seeing him play so good.
Congrats, Roger, congrats to Andy too, I start liking him as a player more and more! Let's hope for a sizzling last two months of this tennis season. Two more Masters, plus the Master Cup to go, after all... Edited by Ricochet - September 09 2008 at 03:26 |

Damn, I missed the final. Can't believe Raffa lost but was happy to hear Roger is back! The next Raffa/Roger final should be great!

Amazing match today. I was glad to see that Roger was starting to head back to the Roger that everyone knows better. Hopefully this will be an indicator that he'll have a much better season than this slight slump he's had. Still, even his slumps make him #2 in the world... and not by much.
