The sound on this CD is great as could be expected, of course. Over the years I've heard nearly all of the songs on it on live recordings and over at YouTube but there were four tracks I heard for the first time today. Feel So Low was one of them and I already frigging love that track, a true PT gem...

Thanks, Fritha.  Glad to know it does indeed exist.  Just like the new Magenta, looks like the states has to wait quite a bit longer than Europe to get it.  But I got the new Magenta yesterday so I'm pretty darn happy anyway.Big%20smile

Just saw it will be available on Amazon in the US on May 27.  I don't use them much anymore so I wasn't looking at them.  Oh, well.  What's another month.

You should be able to get Lightbulb Sun from Burning Shed but it will be a considerably more expensive than waiting for Amazon etc to get it.

To be honest though you should have preordered since the first 3000 orders at Burning Shed came with a free bonus CD which has Novak and an instrumental version of Buying New Soul on it.

Thanks, rushaholic.  I have been patient since I bought In Abstentia. I bought it on a whim in 2002 from seeing reviews on Amazon.  I wasn't into my prog rebirth yet.  I loved it and thought I should look at their back catalog.  LS and SD were the natural choices.  But they weren't available.  Out of print.  Six freaking years later I have one but not the other.  Can he draw it out a little longer?

All those who pre-ordered it should have it by now.  Sounds wonderful.

Commercially, I don't think it is available until some time in May.

Be patient.

Don't forget also the re-release of Recordings
and the 2LP vinyl version of Lightbulb Sun at some stage (can't wait for that!)
Anyone got any idea if Recordings will get the vinyl treatment as well?

eh, I sort of understand wanting to have another outlet for different styles of music, perhaps he just ran out of clever names to put it out under LOL

I too am a little surprised he's doing  a solo album, given that he writes most if not all the PT tunes, has the side project No Man, AND does Blackfield, which I thought was his outlet for the more pop oriented side. Sometimes when artists get too spread out like that, the main band suffers. I hope he doesn't spread it too thin.....

Obviously you havent given Radiohead a good listen.

Anyways, bring on Porcupine Tree :)

I have listened to a lot of Radiohead, and I am going to see them in a few months. Simply put, PT blows their doors off. I want Radiohead live to really impress me, so I am keeping an open mind, but they will be hard put to top live Porcupine Tree. Radiohead for some reason became a media darling, while PT gets little ink and lives in relative obscurity. Based on talent alone, there is no reason for this dichotomy. For one thing, Wilson has a much better voice than Thom Yorke. That in itself puts Radiohead behind big time. I have to like the lead voice or its a tough listen. Second, PT has a much more melodic sense, with more varied influences. Wilson can go from pop to metal without blinking. Radiohead is not as versatile IMO.

I don't deny Radiohead some props and influence. Heck, Wilson is a fan of Radiohead, and so they have influenced PT. My comment was a statement at the over the top "anointing" of Radiohead as THE cerebral band, THE new Pink Floyd etc, when based purely on musical terms, PT shreds Radiohead to ribbons and is much more deserving of the "new Pink Floyd" label if that has to be used as a demarcation line.

I find your comment about Squonkman uncalled for. It is evident that Radiohead is Rolling Stone's Golden Boys.......SW never gets any credit......The music world is a joke..........SW is the Modern Day David Gilmour.....end of Story.............

Here's a video for one of the songs on the new No-Man album, Truenorth:

Yeah I'm really looking forward to Schoolyard Ghosts, the previews that have been released are excellent.

I will be at one of the NYC KC shows hopefully (if I convince my dad). I am extremely excited for the new PT concert dvd and cd....one question I have though is if they are going to be doing the same sort of thing Opeth did with the Roundhouse Tapes...recording and filming the same gig..releasing the recording first and the dvd at a much later date..but I'm not sure if it's the same show being recorded...does anyone know about that?
