Mudvayne

Why are people taking this poll seriously?

Had they actually grown as a band from the encouraging and borderline prog L.D. 50, I'd have voted yes.

Sadly, they did not. The next 2 found them wallowing in cliche and banality, very disappointing after the promise of the debut. The bassist is still silly good, though.

Soundgarden used all kinds of odd times.

I see where he is coming from. Mudvayne has been known to use some complex time signatures and even called their style math-metal at some point. NO they are NOT prog, they never pushed musical bounds or created anything new never came close to classical music or wrote long compositions or electric instuirmentation, or consept album NO NO NO!

Mudvayne isnt prog,they are nu metal with other influences

Yeah, you're right and I was kind of reluctant to use that term, since you won't be seeing them (or hearing about them) in the top of today's charts, I think, but, like you said, there is - or at least was - somewhat of a "cult" following. But the point I was trying to make was that we all (or almost) know who Mudvayne are (and a good lot don't care too much for them, either, me thinks), even if they're the old news, now, so it's less likely that we'll be having a bigger discussion there...that and the fact that they're clearly not progressive.
