The reason Cartman is so popular is because he says and does all the things regular people can't say or do - whether politically incorrect, socially unacceptable or morally shaky, he's on top of it.  He's cathartic in that way.

I voted for Token, yes he is a one joke character but its hilarious, they never really mention him and hes the only black person in the class. Amuses me greatly. Cartman's really the best but go Token.

I love Cartman. He's everything I'm not, and that's why I like him. His evilness makes me laugh.

It's gotta be butters.  I love that poor boy.  He is the antithesis of cartman, and he serves his purpose well.

I like to think Cartman is the representative of all evil in the world and everyone has to work to keep him at bay.  That's why I think 'Scott Tenorman Must Die' is one of the all-time greatest episodes, simply because Cartman prevails.  It's actually kind of terrifying. Geek
