I've got to say as far as two man(or woman) teams go, Death From Above 1979 are much better than The White Stripes.

Never understood the big deal about these guys. The music in monotonous and boring...as well are the vocals. If they vanished off the face of the earth, then I wouldn't be the least bit upset.

I like them. Inventive despite the simplicity. Good, but not as good as most critics say they are.

Don't mean to speak for FF, but essentially agoraphobia involves a fear of being in public. Or a fear of soft, fluffy sweaters, not sure which.

I think I just like the seven nation army song. I prefer Black Keys to these guys though.

I used to work in a huge record store and they were played on and on and on... Not bad overall, but not so terribly good either. Two basic rock tunes with bluesy-popish riffs, and one with a piano.
If you think they are good, fine, but my comment on their period of creativity will prove itself with time.

The duo Black Keys always surprises me by sounding like a 3 or 4 piece, but there are so many effect available to fill-out the bands' sound. Having said that, the trio Groundhogs back in the early 70's (time of the classic Split) were using octave-splitters to do that very same thing. But as to prejudice against two piece blues bands - the whole history of blues has included masterful two man or women bands, e.g. Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee.

Oh, crap. If bad consists only of two instruments, how can it be good. Unless they are outstanding technicians.

If the band members are only able to play chak-poom chak-poom, they MUST be boring.

The only chance that two-members band could be possibly good is if the songwriters are one of those rare talented people capable to write simple but good songs.

Even in that case, their crativity will be exhausted in a matter of 3 albums or less.

We can only come to the simple conclusion that you have never heard The White Stripes.

And I am not intending to, unless you prove me that I should.

Now why would I do that?

Oh, by the way. Making negative comments about a band you've never heard is incredibly stupid.

I agree.
But, my comment was about band's line-up in general, and how possibly guitar/drum duet could make good music. I covered all possible parameters, and still I think my argument is valid.

I like them quite a bit. Jack is very inventive, and does a good blues as well.
