i remember listening to echoes while camping on a crappy boombox but man it was so good . i like listeniong to music while cycling not so much while walking in wilderness though. walking at night with some music is great though.

If i'm just relaxing or hiking or somethong like that, than I prefer "nature's music". But If i'm doing yard work or something of the sort I listen to anything, because let's face it, when your raking for 3 hours, you need a little entertainment to ease the time. Wink

I haven't heard Painkiller but Delirium Cordia by Fantomas is one creepy experience. YanquiU.X.O. by GYBE sounds more like despair and desolation stuff like that.

 For the walk to school I listen to anything though, although usually something about 15 minutes in length.

I agree with the idea of no music at all. You have to hear the birds, otherwise you miss out on a big part of the experience.
 
Besides, around my area you have to listen for any animal sounds in case it is sending out a warning that you are coming too close. The last thing you want to do is to get too close to a bear, deer or moose.

Me three.  Hearing the berds and the forest in general is one of the best parts.  You expierence nature with all senses.  I prefer to listen to music in my room with head phones to truely listen to the music.

Usually "classical" when I'm out in nature.  A bit obvious perhaps then that when I'm sitting at the seaside I do like to listen to Debussy's La Mer.

It's often Pink Floyd when out under the stars.

When mountain biking and hiking, I prefer the gentle sounds of nature plus the sound of my feet or my tires.  I'm also keep my ears open in case some bears, cougars, or psycho mountain cannibals are around... I may be a bit paranoid.

Nature ... most of the time I'm enjoying it in the form of cycling tours through the woods next to my home town. I really enjoy listening to music while cycling ... usually I'm exhausting myself in the process, and listening to some really aggressive, driving stuff (mostly metal) really gets me in a "zone". But the other extreme is also nice - listening to really calm, relaxing music while driving not so fast.

I totally agree with Snowdog on this topic. Just listen to nature and if it be silence...then so be it. No extraneous aural stimulation. Just the wind, birds and stillness of the moment.

I put a selection of songs from most bands I have albums of on to my MP3 player, and just put it on random.
 
I also tend to go everywhere with this MP3 player.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005
